Was It All About Eve Or Was It All About Evil?

All About Eve is a realistic drama about people in the New York theater business. The movie follows how a young woman, Eve, infiltrates a close knit group of professional theater friends, in hopes of becoming famous. The movie has an added story line of how an older actress struggles with aging, and Eve stealing her leading role and man. Through the majority of the movie, Eve sweetly cozies up to all the characters, making herself indispensible, with a naive sensibility. In reality, Eve is very driven with the goal of stealing the lead role in a hit play away from older

Bill had asked Margo to marry him more than once but not until the end did Margo say she wanted to maintain sole and exclusive rights to him. The dialog between Margo and Birdie showed evidence of a long, sentimental relationship when they bantered about Margo’s new girdle somehow being smaller or if Birdie liked Eve. Margo and Addison antagonized the most people in this movie, from Margo whipping her fur coat in Max’s face to Addison talking down to Miss Casswell when he corrects her that she is talking to a butler and that he see her career rising. We know Margo is struggling with growing old when she wishes Bill a happy birthday and says, “We who are about to die salute you.” Blackmail caused strife for both Karen and Eve. Karen’s joke on Margo, which backfired on her, is another example of strife. In the end, we knew that Eve got what she deserved when Eve goes back to her hotel room alone and finds Phoebe

Eve's ruthlessness and skilled deception put Margo into a tailspin of despair and ultimately launched her acting career. Throughout the movie, Eve idolized and secretly undermined Margo; in everything from acting to her true love. Eve eventually becomes a known actor, much to Margo's disgust. The movie All About Eve was directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz in 1950. During this movie, Eve plays a fan od Nargo Channings and as she gets in well with her, starts meeting people in the acting business and launches her career. Margo Channing, another one of the main characters such as Eve, is the famous actor that Eve supposedly is the biggest fan of and comes to all her plays. When thinking of Eve's actions, two words come to mind; ruthless and naive. Ruthless is explained by the dictionary as having no compassion, pity, or merciless. This description fit Eve to the T. Naive, on the other hand, is explained as lacking worldly experience and understanding. During the entire film, Margo was a perfect example of being naive, as equally was Bill. Eve used people's naivete during the movie to move her up in the acting world. These acts, such as her holding a party for Bill and when she made the long distance phone call to Bill to wish him a happy birthday, show the character in which Eve is. Bill is Margo's love…

The clash between good and evil has been a prominent theme in literature. The Bible presents the conflict between good and evil in the story of Adam and Eve. Many authors use the scene in the Bible in which the snake taunts and tempts Adam and Eve to take a bite of the apple of knowledge to demonstrate the frailty of humankind. John Gardner provides these same biblical allusions of good and evil in his novel, Grendel.…

While Marnie spends more time as her gorgeous, beloved self, she discovers that Howard is avoiding her, For example at one part, Marnie finds Howard waving to a dark figure, which she soon finds out, is Martha. When Marnie asks Howard what he was doing, he only answers as “’Mmmmmmm?’” This can reveal that Howard doesn’t want to admit to Marnie that he’s cheating on her, but at the same time, reveals that he is cheating on Marnie. And soon, Howard tells Marnie his feeling, and tells her that he’s in love with the girl he married. At the same time, he tells Marnie that she deserves someone better looking; which gives Marnie the idea to create her ideal version of Howard. However, after she creates the new Howard, he goes to Martha, not Marnie. “Marnie watched, openmouthed.” This expression is often used to show that a person is surprised and in Marnie’s case, it clearly shows her state of shock. Afterwards, Marnie says “’Get up – darling,’ she spat.” Although she is spitting the words out, Marnie says darling. This shows that Marnie has realized that no one is perfect, and so she will start appreciating what she already…

Good vs. evil is a classic theme often found in literature. In “A Good Man is Hard to Find” by O’Connor and “Young Goodman Brown” by Hawthorne, the authors focus on this theme to unravel their plots. O’Connor uses the grandmother and a thief, The Misfit, to compare and contrast the good and evil in people. On the other hand, Hawthorne’s, “Young Goodman Brown,” uses the main character, Young Goodman Brown, and his journey from being a respected man to being summoned by the devil. Both authors use their main characters as a comparison of what being good means, however the evil of the story is presented differently.…

In Beowulf, the conflict between good and evil is the poem 's main and most important aspect. The poet makes it clear that good and evil doesn’t exist as only opposites, but that both qualities are present in everyone. Beowulf represents the ability to do good or to perform acts selflessly and in help of others. Goodness is also showed throughout this epic as having the ability to cleanse evil. Even though evil is presented by Grendel, Grendel 's mother, and the dragon, who are filled with a desire to act against people and ultimately destroy them, even pride, a human quality, is presented in Beowulf as a sign that evil exists. This story might even be considered a classic because it mainly talks about the old fashion good vs. evil, hero vs. villain. Beowulf and the three monsters show the significant difference between good and evil, and why god will always prevail.…
