Was Joseph Stalin A Hero Or A Villain

Take a moment and try to recreate what the 1930 Soviet Union, or Russia, would have been like. Focus on the laws and actions put in place by Joseph Stalin, leader of that time. Think about you and your families’ jobs and education and the conditions from before Stalin. Now, taking all of these into consideration, do you think of Stalin as a hero or a villain? No opinion is wrong, for there are multiple reasons for both, but one must know that Stalin had at least improved Russia. Thus, would make him a hero. Joseph Stalin improved Russia in many ways. One way being that he made several improvements to education. In the 1920’s test marks and report cards were abolished, however Stalin brought them back no more than ten years later. Not only did he bring back such necessary items to schooling, he did it in a way that affected all citizens of Russia. Stalin installed institutes and encouraged adults to go and further their education. By 1939, Russia’s illiteracy declined to only 4% male and 18% female.
