SET 1 MODULE 1 ASSIGNMENT 1 1. Write about your past formal or informal language learning experiences( any language which is not your first language). Would you consider them to be effective or ineffective? give reasons for your answer.( word limit 250)

As far as my past languages learning experience is concerned .I have been learning languages on and off since after my 9th standard.the reason that I like to learn is because I have a passion for knowing as much as languages I can. I currently speak three more or less fluently, can get by fairly well in arabic, and have a basic knowledge of kanada and can only understand the language and write it but find fair difficulty in speaking out due to lack in fluency.kanada is the language that I ave learned recently and I have found it to be effective in manys ways.i ahev being learning kanada from past 4 years or less . the basics for starting to learn this language was though the books. I had bought a number of books and gramma and with the help of my friend I started learning the pronounciation of the alphabets. My friends would only communicate wth me in this language so that I can respond to them and correct my vocabulary.i learned writing kanada as well as reading .my reading skills were much developed by reading boards and advertisements, newspapers.in a span of time I had become well vesed with the language.in consideration of this language I would say this has put quite an effect in my life for the main reason because since im a doctor and prctising here, majority of my patients are kanada speakers, this language learning experience has removed the gap between me and my patients having good communication with them.

When examining stories of competition from the past and present, all of them involve a winner and incontestably, a loser. Sports are the most popular form of competition where people will do almost anything to win, including cheat. Performance enhancing drugs are one of the most talked about issues in sport today. Though many people think that doping has only been an issue for the past 30-40 years, there is evidence of athletes using substances to enhance their performance since the early Olympic games in approximately 700 BC. The testing for substances have always been one step behind the latest drug and many tests for banned substance are not always accurate. This makes it very difficult to catch all of the so-called cheaters. Using banned substances can also have dangerous side effects when not used properly and in the past, many athletes have fallen victim to these problems. Due to the vast list of banned substances in high level sport, many athletes have been stripped of their titles when caught taking something as simple as an over the counter flu medication, which many people feel is not fair. The only solution to these issues in sport is to legalize these banned substances. This would eliminate skepticism, allow athletes to be on the same playing field, and potentially save their lives as they would be properly educated on how to safely take performance enhancing drugs.…

My native language is Arabic and I hail from Saudi Arabia. My mother played a key role in instilling the desire to learn the English language. My first lessons begun at the tender age of 7 years, my mother used simple English words and numbers to teach me how to pronounce English words. My mother is not a proficient English speaker but the little words she knew she taught me. When I was enrolled in elementary school there were no English lessons I was deeply disappointed by this aspect. My only option was to learn the English dialect through cartoons and television programs and films. The most effective English learning tool came in form of a present from my aunt. The present was a videogame console and all games were English this exciting learning opportunity was challenged by my mother’s restrictions as she wanted me to focus more on my classwork. Since no one in my family understood the English dialect I decided to learn English through my own understanding and interpretations of the words I read or heard.…

James Cameron, the creator of the movie, “Avatar”, had the plans for the movie, but had to wait 30 years for the technology to catch up. The three-decade wait was worth it, and “Avatar” is one of the greatest movies ever! The graphics were phenomenal, the characters were beyond unique, and the plot was dramatic and intriguing. “Avatar” was so awesomely made that I loved every single bit of it and I can watch it repeatedly, because it seems I always see something I missed.…

The interviews provided an opportunity to have students express their opinions directly, in their own words, and to be able to explore the reasons behind the answers. In response to the third probing question of the second main question: How has your vocabulary studying been going recently?, all four students mentioned Duolingo almost immediately. This question might not have been as effective when posed to students in the other grades, but since the Grade 7 students were new to the school, and new to the Duolingo program, they thought of Duolingo in response to a question about their recent vocabulary study. All four students gave positive responses.…

Today cleanliness is the most important thing in both the homes and in a society. Taking care of the environment is a big responsibility. Since disposing of garbage and wastes maintains sanitary in the envorinment, everybody should also care about the beauty of their surroundings. Home garbages and some other solid wates should certainly be cleared out and be burned to keep the weather of the environment clean, however it is not always the case to burn kinds of wastes and totally get rid of them though. Thus, recycling solid wastes can also be reused to produce materials over again, such nylon and glass bottles, paper and plastic materials. In almost many developed countries, the governments have provided certain trash cans for the reusable items while in Iraq this important service has still not been supplied. Therefore, since we can make use of some solid waste products, the vicinities in Iraq needs to be more cared about by both the people and the government. My point in this essay is that, as a recommendation for the government, particular trash cans must be provided in the public places.…

A solid waste management appraisal was undertaken in Mathare, an area affected by poor solid waste management strategy as evidenced by many informal dumping sites. Questionnaires were administered seeking data on demographic and waste management in four zones of the area. The rate of waste generation was determined by sorting and weighing of solid wastes produced by people living in the same house. The weighing was done every Friday of the week for one month. The weights obtained were subjected to ANOVA to determine variation across the four zones. Chi-Square test was used to investigate whether there was relationship between waste produced and family size. It was also used to test relationship…
