Have you ever felt so enthralled by a book that you literally wanted to crawl through the pages and enter into that world? The first in a five book series, Waterfall by Lisa T. Bergren is a great example. In this YA book, she vividly describes the emotions, characteristics, and personalities of the characters while bringing them to life. From knights in shining armor who are battling to the death to romantic love scenes, this book is definitely one to read on cold nights. While in the Tuscany region of Italy during an archaeological dig with there mother, sisters Gabriella and Evangelia Betarrini stumble upon two handprints inside an Etruscan tomb. When they place their hands upon the prints at the same time, they are suddenly transported to the medieval 14th century, but when Gabriella removes her hand too quickly, Evangelia disappears and Gabi finds herself more than 600 years in the past alone. As Gabi exits the tomb, she finds herself in a small battle between knights. Lucky for her, she is taken in by the good guys, Marcello Forelli, the future leader of Castello Forelli, and his cousin and right-hand man, Luca Forelli. Despite the fact that this book is considered Christion fiction, it says very little about religion. Bergren uses a lot of phrases such as “saints in heaven” and “go with God”, but not enough content to be considered Christion fiction. Someone who is also expecting a somewhat “clean read” would find it difficult to finish. There are many love scenes with plenty of innuendoes. Genres romantic and adventure would best fit this book. The title is also something that would be misunderstood. The book is called Waterfall, but the reason for it cannot be found in the
