Water Downfall Book Report
What More Can You Ask For?
Have you ever felt so enthralled by a book that you literally wanted to crawl through the pages and enter into that world? The first in a five book series, Waterfall by Lisa T. Bergren is a great example. In this YA book, she vividly describes the emotions, characteristics, and personalities of the characters while bringing them to life. From knights in shining armor who are battling to the death to romantic love scenes, this book is definitely one to read on cold nights. While in the Tuscany region of Italy during an archaeological dig with there mother, sisters Gabriella and Evangelia Betarrini stumble upon two handprints inside an Etruscan tomb. When they place their hands upon the prints at the same time, they are suddenly transported to the medieval 14th century, but when Gabriella removes her hand too quickly, Evangelia disappears and Gabi finds herself more than 600 years in the past alone. As Gabi exits the tomb, she finds herself in a small battle between knights. Lucky for her, she is taken in by the good guys, Marcello Forelli, the future leader of Castello Forelli, and his cousin and right-hand man, Luca Forelli. Since her parents are archaeologists, she already knows a great deal of their history, and being well-learned in the Italian language and fencing, Gabi is already on a great start to a long

Despite the fact that this book is considered Christion fiction, it says very little about religion. Bergren uses a lot of phrases such as “saints in heaven” and “go with God”, but not enough content to be considered Christion fiction. Someone who is also expecting a somewhat “clean read” would find it difficult to finish. There are many love scenes with plenty of innuendoes. Genres romantic and adventure would best fit this book. The title is also something that would be misunderstood. The book is called Waterfall, but the reason for it cannot be found in the

In the beginning salt water and regular water got along. They all lived in the same ocean and each droplet would live in harmony. They shared the undersea environment with all the fish and sea plants. Some plants and animals needed salt water more than fresh water and some needed fresh water more than salt water. Frank Llloyd Wright positioned Fallingwater on the waterfall so that every room could have sun light during the day and provided a different perspective of viewing the waterfall. The front window in the living room created a framed panoramic view of nature that is divided in such away that nature is given a human scale. steal, stone, concrete and glass were the only materials used in building the house. The main floor is cantilevered on four stone and concrete piers that allowed for the construction of the foundation for the main floor. The sofas cantilever from the walls and the stone floor echoes the stone bottom of the stream bed. The colors he chose were warm earth colors and the stone walls are laid up to match the natural strata. The living room opens to the water below allowing for added ventilation.…

    Water Crisis

Water crisis refers to the situation where the available water within a geographical location cannot meet the water needs of the population in that location. This prevalent situation has drawn considerable attention in most countries due to its severity to humanity. Because of the tripling of the population in the 21st century, the demand for water has remained considerably higher than the available clean and safe water. Despite the fact that the earth is covered by seventy percent of water, only four percent of this water is fresh. The rest is saline. Additionally, out of the fresh water, sixty-nine percent consists of glaciers, while the rest is available as surface or underground water. As a result, only one percent is available for direct human consumption, which is relatively less than the human demand (Jennifer, 2010). This condition has necessitated most countries to embrace the option of underground water or desalinization to sustain the ever-increasing demand for water. Similarly, climate change has considerably contributed to the worldwide water crisis. Due to global warming, the level of water loss on the earth’s surface has increased especially in tropical regions. This with other factors has led to water crisis.…

Water is a precondition of life. Besides various uses of water, it is mainly used in irrigation as India is an agricultural country. Water is a renewable resource. Life is impossible without water. Its uses are limitless whether it is in home or in fields or in industries. We get water mainly from rain, rivers, wells, ponds and lakes. Sea-water is almost useless for domestic or industrial purposes. India is said to be a Monsoon country. But the distribution of Monsoon rainfall is uneven both regionally and seasonally. Moreover, it is not dependable as its occurrence is not at stipulated times. River is the main source of surface water. The mean annual flow of the Indian rivers is estimated to be about 1,869 billion cubic metres (bcm). About 690 billion cubic metres or 36.92 percent of it is available for use. On the basis of hydrology, Indian rivers are divided into: Himalayan rivers and Peninsular rivers. Himalayan rivers have their resources in the glaciers and snow fields, so they are perennial in nature. Peninsular rivers depend on monsoon rains, so they are seasonal.…

From researching online databases of my city, I’ve found that we are focused on planning ahead for disasters such as hurricanes, or even different forms like terrorism for example. The city acknowledges this strategic planning needed, as well as building public awareness and the development of hazardous mitigation and emergency response plans. According to the mayor, these plans are at completion and ready for use when or if the time ever comes. It was also found that all of this preparedness has been keeping the city’s homeland security team completely busy for the past few years as the city stresses necessary training, new equipment and education and the growing development of the new Community Emergency Response Team. If you are to draw any evidence from these actions of my city, it is that the key stress is maximum preparedness and planning which isn’t a bad emphasis when you’re dealing with natural disasters.…
