California was chosen as a location for water and sanitary injustice due to the fact that I had an interest about the water problems that are affecting the residents of California. From researching about California, I have discovered that there are plenty of communities that suffer from water contamination from chemicals. Areas such as Sacramento, Stockton, etc. are victims of water filtration companies over application of chemicals to purify drinking water levels. In addition, cities in California are struggling with the lack of water due to the drought that wiped out access to lakes and rivers. Moving on, Thailand was also chosen since my parents and ancestor once lived in Thailand. I wanted to educate myself about the potential sanitation and water problems that my parents and ancestors struggle with. As a result, Thailand illuminated that communities were in poverty and had serious sanitation problems: women lacked proper sanitary infrastructures, children mortality rate was high, and waters are contaminated. However, there was an abundance of information that were shocking and mind blowing. For instance, learning about how water filtration companies in California are utilizing and testing with cheaper, dangerous chemicals during the process of purification without educating the communities about it bothers my mind. This means that there residents are ignorant to the water they are using and consuming, and as consumers, they have the right to know what is happening.
