Overview: Waverly Holland has been working in a public accounting firm for three years. He was responsible for an auditing case for Padova&Vicenza. After he resigned from the accounting firm to take his MBA program, he received a call from Robert Chop, an attorney who is in charge of the investigation of the auditing case of Padova&Vicenza. Chop wants Waverly to cooperate with him about the case. Chop convinced him by promising him that they wouldn't let him be defendant. Waverly tried to get some idea from Morris, the former partner of the accounting firm. Morris suggested and threatened him not to meet with Chop. Instead, he suggested him to get help from Gillette, the in-house attorney. Waverly didn't know what to do.
Issue: I think Waverly should not meet with Chop. First, he is not the person who should be responsible for the case. Only the chief executive officer, the chief operating officer, and the chief financial officer are the principal defendants. Second, Morris threatened Waverly that if he meets with Chop, Waverly won’t finish his graduated degree. But dealing with his own skiing resort is always his dream. It is the most important reason that why he left the accounting firm. Third, I believe Gillette will deal with the lawsuit in an appropriate way. Waverly doesn't have to worry about this.
