ways of cheating in exams
The most common ways behind cheating in exams at the English Department of the University of Prishtina

Students have always tried to improve their cheating skills. This is a well known phenomenon which is spread in universities. They find different reasons to support the idea of cheating and do their best to finish the exam without being caught. Students use different ways of cheating like using electronic devices, cooperating with peers and using mini copies. The development of technology has done enormous changes in society. Cheating too has become more easy with developing of electronic devices. Cellphones are almost inevitable idea of thinking about cheating. Texting with someone for help, taking photos of the exam and sending them to a friend, google-ing for answers are benefits that cheaters have from cellphones. People have even invented different special devices for cheating, like magnetic headphones, smart watches etc. which are used from students. Cooperating with peers is more “classic” way, but students have never gave up from this kind of cheating. Sitting close to those who are good students is very helpful in cheating. Here students use different methods in order to gain what they want. Switching tests, whispering, looking at friends test, using different signs which they practise before the exam are few things that students do. Sometimes even if they know the answers, the idea that they have sat close to someone who is “smarter” in order to cheat, make them think that they are wrong. Other way of cheating is using different mini copies in different manners. It is an old method that lastst for ages and it will never fade. I would say it is an “old but gold” one. Students prepare different kinds of copies, and hiding them good is considered the key of success in that action. Notes inside of water bottles, fake printed bottle labels, hiding copies in pockets, under the table, under the test etc. are well known ways of cheating. Even the proffesors know very well all these things, students still don’t give up from this way of cheating, and take the risk. Proffesors are familiar with all ways that students have used to cheat. No matter what they do, proffesors will end up discovering the truth, for sure. The most amazing thing is the effort that some students go through in order to cheat. I suggest that students just have to think about time they spent. If they just spent that much time studying the material, they would probably do fine.

Some students will do anything it takes to achieve a higher grade, to achieve a grade point average sufficient for graduate school, or to achieve special awards or honors, even if it includes cheating (Kolanko, et al., 2006, p. 35). Methods of cheating have become increasingly high tech over the last several years, with all of the increased technology available to students. Students have been known to text answers to other students, use micro recorders to tape test questions for students in later classes, and use ultraviolet pens to write test questions out so that the questions cannot be detected to the naked eye, but can be viewed under a special ultraviolet light (Kolanko, et al., 2006, p. 36). In addition to all of these fancy, high tech methods of cheating, the old fashioned cheating methods still do exist. Students are still known to use cheat sheets, copy off other students’ tests, and use textbooks when not allowed (Schmidt, 2006, p.…

Cheating used to be considered an unmentionable sin. However, in this day and age, it has become more common and somewhat of a daily occurrence. Cheating is more widespread today than in the past. According to the article titled Education: The New Morality, cheating has not been an issue of values, but simply one of practicality. This shows that many view cheating as a mere occurrence and something that can often be skipped over. The reason cheating has become such a pervasive movement is because many students tend to rationalize their cheating behavior. A common rationalization that many students use is, " That 's the only way I 'll get anywhere in life." Many students also tend to incorporate reasons, such as parental pressures, the aim to be the best, and the lack of time, with their dishonest behavior.…

“Cheating has become so common, experts say, That it often goes unreported and unpunished,” said by Zernike in the Article,”With Students Cheating on the Rise, More Colleges are Turning to Honor Codes.” Without a doubt cheating has become more prevalent is both colleges and high schools. However, some people may question if certain types of cheating are okay and not dishonest and others dishonest. For example, some people may think copying a homework assignment is not a big deal and dishonest while other people think that cheating on exams is dishonest. In addition, some people may resort to cheating when they are not too aware of the material they are trying to learn when it comes to being tested and others do it for the good grade, not because they don’t know it. Also, many studies and surveys have been conducted at various school and I have noticed from the free responses that people are only attending school for the good grade and not to learn. In recent surveys conducted at Point Loma High School, have shown that cheating is a spreading epidemic common…

In our societies today we always face the stress of being better. I believe academic cheating is a response to that stress. Ideally, the study environment should be designed according to the student’s individual capabilities and strengths. However, as Marilyn French (1985:387) once put it into words “Only extraordinary education is concerned with learning; most is concerned with achieving: and for young minds, these two are very nearly opposite.”.…
