Introduction www.utar.edu.my/fes is a webpage of Faculty of Engineering and Science UTAR. This webpage was designed for Faculty of engineering and Science student, which mean whole KL campus student to use it. Student can view their timetable, course info, final year project info, career information and etc. Although this website was designed to have so many useful function but this website is seldom used and known by KL campus student. There are a number of common causes for failure with this website. Here is a look at possible things that causing this website failure. 1. Infrequent update
One of the keys to successful websites is repeat visitors, and one of the keys to attracting repeat visitors is to continually add new content. If a website stays the same for long periods of time, what makes visitors want to keep coming back?

2. Poor Design
This site has a poor appearance with their color using. Most visitors will base their first impression of the site at least partially on looks and appearance.

3. Messy Navigation
This site is messy in navigation menu. If visitors are unable to get around your site easily, they probably will simply leave. Each page on your site should clearly show visitors that they are on your website. Make sure every page links back to your home pages as well.
And we are using CMS to redesign this website.
Content management system is software that keeps track of every piece of content on your website; much like your local public library keeps track of books and stores them. Content can be simple text, photos, music, video, documents, or just about anything you can think of. A major advantage of using a CMS is that it requires almost no technical skill or knowledge to manage. Since the CMS manages all your content, you don't have to.
Joomla! is a content management system helping both novice users and expert developers to create powerful websites and applications. Over 6,000 free and commercial extensions are available from the official Joomla! Extension Directory and more are available from other sources. It is estimated to be the second most used CMS on the Internet after WordPress. Joomla is designed to be easy to install and set up even if you're not an advanced user. Many Web hosting services offer a single-click install, getting your new site up and running in just a few minutes.
Since Joomla is so easy to use, as a Web designer or developer, you can quickly build sites for your clients. Then, with a minimal amount of instruction, you can empower your clients to easily manage their own sites themselves.

Conclusion
We encounter many problems while designing this website, such as we need to learn joomla, a new thing which we never learn before and there are many ideas in a group, it hard to come out an idea that everybody agree. The joomla cannot get online so everybody can edit or view it, we must get together to do this assignment. We need to arrange our free time for it. It is so hard because everyone are facing different assignment and quite busy sometimes.
Thanks to cooperative of group member. We manage to finish this assignment. We learn joomla together, thinking idea together and try to get as much time to gather together for doing this assignment. And thanks to lecturer for giving us guideline so that we can know what to do.
We have successfully redesign faculty of science and engineering website. We change the color, reorganize the navigation menu and make the appearance of the website more attractive. The website which we design is better than the old one because it having a better interface and appearance.

    1. Good website design: The design of the website really projects the feeling of the restaurant being a traditional Japanese restaurant with a western twist to it. The overall design of the website is very stylish and elegant, compared to the competitors’ website, Ginga is well ahead of them. The landing page is aesthetically pleasing with a large hero shot of a variety of sushi which really engages the customer’s taste buds. (Potts 2007). The navigation tabs is very clear and it is placed at the top of the site next to the logo which is a good visual hierarchy. The website is very interactive hence this helps the web site visitor feel more involved and in control with their web experience (Chaffey 2013).…

The font is small and different tabs seem to rotate different colors. The homepage provides a menu bar on the left side of the page. When clicking through the links, they lead to another page that just provides more link. Also, some links were dead . There were also few visuals on the pages. It was hard to navigate back to the Amelia Earhart page, since there was no straight link to the page and no search bar. Once, linked to Earhart's page the color scheme was different again and all the information was not broken down or reader friendly. The flow of the article was hard to understand, due to the writer not using any of the women's names. Compared to the TIGHAR site, it lacks organization, and consistence.…

I would add flash graphics to this site to make it more enticing to their audience. Small print is another problem with this website. It is somewhat difficult to read through all the forums because the print is too small. Because of the small print another problem arose. Small print limits your audience. With older artists such as Louis Armstrong and Otis Redding, I feel the website should appeal more to older generations also. Have you ever heard your grandparents say, “This print is too small,” when reading the newspaper? Your reply is most likely yes, which proves my point. Overall, the print size is not a huge problem but could be enlarged to appeal to more people.…

    What Makes a Good Website

    • 2958 Words
    • 12 Pages

In my opinion what makes a good web page? I have been on the net for the last, can 't really believe it, coming to ten years now. From the conception to now, I have been a regular surfer on the web, visiting thousands of pages a month, mostly in search of some thing or another. Most searches have lead to even more searches but some times I come up tops. Having been used to the all text sites of the beginning, and seeing the first implementations of more graphic based sites, there was a three-year lapse where I rarely got to surfing and missed a whole evolution in web page. When I returned in full to surfing, I discovered the face of the internet have started to change. Buttons with pictures, navigation systems, some that even worked, all and all better thought out sites that where pleasing to look at and better to work with. This was probably due to the introduction of java script and more complex versions of html. Before then what made a sight good or bad, for me, was more based on contents. As this change came to be my expectations of sites changed as well. When, at first, we where happy to have hyperlinked, underlined blue text, now we expect to have a good, easy to use, constant navigation system. Where bad resolution bitmaps where the norm, now we want smooth animated graphics. The way we use the internet have changed with the advances in technology, so changing our expectations and creating a whole new set of problems for anyone, from the big spenders to backroom designers, how to get our attention and how to keep us coming back.…
