Wedding Day
Wedding Day
Every little girl dreams about her wedding day. I was no different. An Indian marriage is performed with great funfair. All people whether rich or poor want it to be a memorable occasion. My wedding day was the most joyous day of my life. Since then, I have learned that such moments do not happen all the time. It is important to enjoy them. My wedding day was fulfilled with many emotional including happiness, sadness, fear, and excitement.
My wedding has been the most blissful time of my life. However, it seemed to be a complete blur. It all happened very quickly from the moment I was engaged to the moment we walked around the sacred circle on my wedding day. The wedding was put together in only ten days. I spent those ten days with my fiancé and my future in-laws getting to know each other. We spent time visiting temples and shopping in preparation for the wedding. We shopped matching wedding dress. Our wedding dress was red and white color. I also spent much of that time with my family and many relatives from out of the town. I met so many people. There were over 2000 people that attend our two day wedding ceremonies. Almost everyone from our families to our friends helped celebrate. On that day I was very nervous to go front of my fiancé but inside of my heart, I was very happy. I was going to start my new life. Not only were many of dreams coming true, but also I was fulfilling my father’s hopes. He also wished that I settle in the United States for a better life. I will always remember the joy in my father’s eyes that day.
While I was having the time of my life, a part of me was both sad and fearful. I was disappointed my older brother was unable to attend the biggest day of my life. He was living abroad and could not make the trip back because of immigration issues. I was also sad because I realized that I would need to leave for the US. I had always lived in our small village for my entire life. It meant that I was

I arrived to a church crowded with friends and family. So many people had gone to St. John’s Cathedral to witness the simple, yet elegant, tradition. There were also relatives from Mexico and Puerto Rico who took the long tiring trip to attend. I was honored to see so many people there on my special day. My court of honor led the way into the church. When it was my turn to walk down the aisle, soft music was played by the organist. I felt like a princess walking in my big, beautiful ball gown. My gown was similar to a wedding dress except it was a pastel pink. When the ceremony started it was nerve racking. I was thinking about my hair and people staring at me from behind, and hoping my tiara or…

Zora Neale Hurston’s Their Eyes Were Watching God, shows the development of an African-American woman living in the 1920s and 1930s as she searches for her true identity. Janie was a half-white, half-black girl growing up in Florida in the early 1930 's, living with her grandmother, struggling to find her place in life. Janie’s transformation throughout the book shows a change through language and the development of Janie’s voice through the different stages of her life. Their Eyes Were Watching God is a narrative about one woman’s quest to free herself from repression and explore her own identity; this is the story of Janie Crawford and her journey for self-knowledge and fulfillment. Hurston’s narrative focuses on the emergence of a female self in a male-dominated world, she tells her magnificent story of romantic love against the background of church and extra church modes of expression. Understanding this fact helps to explain those sections of the narrative that have been said to have no meaning beyond their entertainment value (Hemenway 218).…

Surprisingly, I didn’t feel the urge to cry. There I was, standing amongst the rolling hills of Eagle Rock in Los Angeles, and my cheeks were as dry as the city’s desert climate. The day had come; it was time to say goodbye to my older brother, Otto, who was about to start college. Equipped with tissues in my pocket and mascara-free eyes, I had anticipated a day filled with tears. I cried when he broke his elbow in a nasty snowboarding accident and I cried at his graduation when the realization hit me that he would soon be leaving home. Yet when finally confronted with the momentous occasion of his departure, not a single tear welled in my eye.…

We had to say our last goodbye to our little house we had lived in our whole lives. When we were leaving, my family and relatives were at the house saying their goodbyes and giving hugs. “Do we really have to leave everyone and move, mom?” I asked. “Your dad and I have agreed that it will be a good move for the family, now stop complaining about it.” she told me. The only thing I wanted to do that day was stay in our old house and cry because I didn’t want to leave my family at all, I was really dreading moving to Florida. When we headed off on the roads I was still upset about the move, but my parents kept telling me it will be okay but that didn’t help me feel any…

On a beautiful Sunday morning, I got a call from my grandfather from America after 9 years. When my mom told me that it’s your grandfather, I ran to the yellow, old phone. When I heard the first words that my grandfather said to me, it felt so great that even words couldn’t describe it. We talked for many hours and while talking to him I realized how great, smart, and wonderful my grandfather was. Then I handed the phone to my dad because he had important things to talk about. After the call was ended, my dad told me the best news I can hear. He told me that “We are moving to America.” I was so excited that my heart was pounding super hard and felt like that my dream came true. After few months of shopping and packing, we took a long, exhausting…

My dad suggested we should give a family BBQ so I could say my goodbyes to everyone. At the BBQ, I was happy to see all my family together after being gone for eleven years. With the smell of the hot charcoals burning on the grill to the taste of the homemade savory sweet potato pie made me want to stay a little while longer. At the end of the night as I pack up my suitcase, I thought about the whole trip and I am glad I had this chance to visit all the other people who love and care about me. The day finally came for Mykeasha and me to go back home to California. As my dad was getting all of our luggage together and stacking them sideways in the trunk, I was saying my goodbye to my little sister Milan and I wanted her to have something to remember me by. I gave her one of my favorite necklaces. It was a gold heart with lots of little dimonds in it. She jumped for joy and put it around her neck and gave me a huge hug and kiss. Pulling out of the driveway, I felt ok. I was happy to go back home but I was upset to be leaving New Orleans where all my other family lives. Getting back home I sat to myself thinking about the whole trip and I realize that it was one of the most memorable experiences of a…
