Chapter 1Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Practice Problems *(Be sure to put the units in; volts, amps, etc.)

1.One coulomb of charge passes a point every 20 seconds. Calculate the value of the current through the point. I=Q/t = 1C/20s = .05C/s= .05 A x10^-3 C = 50mA

2.A total charge of 2.5 × 10-3 C passes a point every 40 seconds. Calculate the value of the current through the point. I=Q/t =0.0025C/40s= 6.25 C/s = 6.25 A

4.A total charge of 50 × 10-3 C passes a point every 2.5 seconds. Calculate the value of the current through the point. I= Q/t = 0.05C/2.5s = .02C/s = 0.2 Ax10^-3 = 20mA

6.Calculate the conductance of a 1.5 MΩ resistor.
G=IR= 1/1.5 MΩ = 6.66666667x10^6 s= 666.67 nS
7.Calculate the conductance of a 510 kΩ resistor.
G=I/R = 1/510 kΩ=.0019607843x10^3 s= 1.96us
23.Convert each of the following to engineering notation.
a.1.11 × 108 Hz= 11x10^6Hz
b.0.022 × 10-6 F 0022x10^-9 F = 0022nF = 22nF
24. a.0.00128 A (0.001,28)=1.28mA
b.0.000047 H (0.000,047)= 47uH
3.Determine the guaranteed range of values for a 360 kΩ resistor with a 5% tolerance.
342kΩ - 378kΩ

    Introduction: Electrical phenomena were studied extensively during the eighteenth century by scientists and amateurs alike including Benjamin Franklin. Among Franklin’s achievements were contributions to the understanding of electrical behavior beyond his famous (and dangerous) work with lightning. During this time, there was a certain social prestige attached to anyone who undertook such studies, and much of what passed for research was really no more than parlor magic designed to impress. The cumulative result of this activity though led to a large amount of empirical information from which Coulomb was able to formulate his electrical force law in 1789. This laboratory exercise is designed to give you some of this empirical experience with electric charge. You may want to read through the relevant chapter in your before beginning.…
