Week 1 Summary
There where several topics discussed and reviewed during this week, week 1, of organizational behavior and management. The first of which I will discuss involves the first discussion question which we where presented with this week, private and public sector organizations. The private sector refers to non-government agencies that do not have as many regulations as their public sector counterparts, private sector organizations may present employees with a higher earning potential but offer less reward and less job security. Public sector organization involve those organizations related to the government, these types of organizations may not have as much financial incentive as the private sector organizations but there may be more employment opportunities and a greater fulfillment within especially if the individual is employed by a criminal justice agency. The largest difference between these two types of organizations are the regulations which may be in place, public sector organizations being regulated by the government will have significantly more than private sector organizations. Another topic that was covered this week was the influence that criminal justice agencies have on their employees, this is also a very important subject because there should clearly be a certain level of change once an individual is employed by one of these agencies because of the important role that the criminal justice system plays in this country. Employees of criminal justice organizations are held to higher standards than many other individuals because these individuals are given the authority to uphold the law and in many instances control the freedom of individual who commit crimes. The influence that these criminal justice agencies have on their employees should not just be seen in the work place but should also be seen in their lifestyles in
