Employee Training and Career Development Human capital is essential to all businesses, no matter how small or large the firm may be the people behind the logo have an immense impact on the success of the firm. The importance of the employees should not be diminished as their contribution is directly geared towards the growth of the company. According to Management Study Guide (2013) employees are “individuals who spend maximum part of their day contributing towards the success of an organization are its most crucial resource.” For this reason the human capital of any organization should be trained and developed and treated as an asset.
Weakness
As an organization finds the need to expand and grow, so does the workforce. This does not necessarily mean that the organization should add more positions but it translates to training, developing, growing in skill and knowledge of the workforce they already have. Developments in technology, change in the market, and change in organizational direction are among some of the factors that could cause an organization to find the need to create a change in their internal network. As the need for organizational development becomes apparent the weaknesses of each employee also become apparent, even though weaknesses are always present. Frost (2015) stated, “Most employees have some weaknesses in their workplace skills. A training program allows you to strengthen those skills that each employee needs to improve.” (para2).
Role
Once the weaknesses have been recognized and the need for improved skills in the workplace becomes a focus the role of training that takes the forefront. “As jobs in today’s dynamic organizations have become more complex, the importance of employee education has increased” (DeCenzo, & Robbins, 2013). This increased attention has given employee training the role of providing the
