Weekly Report
June 24- 28, 2013

It is the first week of our Supervised Industrial Training (SIT) in Areza Development and Marketing Corporation so we are excited and slightly nervous on our first day because we face different kind of people in business world. And we all know that our supervisor is strict so that’s our first impression to him but our supervisor is very humble to us.
We have our orientation regarding the rules and regulations of the company. They assigned us to measure the parking lot of the areza town center mall project. We used measuring tape of 30 meters long to measure the area of the parking lot. The area of the parking lot is trapezoidal in figure and the measure we got is 90 meters on the base, 33 meters on the first height, 25.5 meters on the second height, and 90.3 meters on the hypotenuse.
After we got the measure of the parking lot, we assigned to design it. So we research the sizes of the vehicles, on our research we got the size of a bus is 3 by 10, for car is 2.5 by 5, for motorcycle is 0.8 by 2, and for tricycle is 1.5 by 2 in meters. And then we draw our own design on a bond paper then pass it to our supervisor.
They assigned us to research about the stiffener column and lintel beam that is used on the mall. Stiffener column is anything which is supporting to a beam or column to eliminate the buckling failure due to high deflection and unbalanced eccentric load with a shear tab. The shear tab is welded to the main part and bolted to the secondary part web. The secondary beam can be leveled or sloped. There is a Shaped shear tab with column stiffeners, shaped shear tab with column stiffeners, the secondary part is sloped. Shaped shear tab with column stiffeners. Bolts are aligned with the secondary part. Shaped shear tab

Horseshoe Resort was founded in 1963, as a ski and golf resort in Horseshoe Valley of Oro-Medonte, Ontario. Horseshoe is 47 years old now and mainly focuses on providing the ski and golf operations with other typical hotel facilities. The company’s primary customers are ranging from skiers to golf lovers and the families who are aiming to have activity-based vacations. Additionally, its unique location stands out because it was on the southern ridge of a U-shaped valley. So they can make use of the landscape to construct specific facilities like mountain biking and hiking trails. The current financial situation was not well due to the fact that the net income of 2009 was $541,940 and the ratio of profitability was only 2.9%. As a result, the company has to determine what portfolio of activities and how to invest the fund to increase Horseshoe’s profitability and customer volume.…

I have witnessed the stages of conflict in my relationships on a daily basis, especially when it comes to my sixteen year old daughter and her attitude, we often disagree. Our greatest challenge that we deal with the most is trying to manage her diabetes in public. Lately she has gained this attitude of she knows what is best for her. She wants to be independent and thinks that she does not need my guidance or opinion. Often times, this cause a power struggle between the child and the parent. In reality, she does not see a problem with her managing it alone. In the past, allowing her to self-manage her diabetes caused an increase in her A1-C. We resolved the problem by coming to a verbal agreement. I came up with a plan that would allow me to be trusting and for her to feel independent. The idea is for her to check her blood sugar levels with her testing kit and every Thursday we will get together and review the numbers. She had to agree with sitting down and discussing any changes that needs to be made without conflict. We both have agreed to meet one another half way and work together to ensure her health as a team.…

During our final chapter, we discussed the four stages of the learning cycle. The four stages of transformational learning are as follows: recognizing a significant problem, confronting it intensely, finding a solution, then integrating a new perspective and a new set of assumptions into ones’ life pattern. I think that a lot of times people go through life not realizing when they have a problem. Therefore, acknowledging your problem is most definitely the first step in learning from it. When you realize that there is a problem, you must confront the problem head on to find a solution. Once you have found a solution, you need to incorporate it into your life. These four stages are important in any learning experience.…

    Essay on St. Louis

    • 632 Words
    • 3 Pages

One way for the administration of St. Louis to improve the students’ lives is through the creation of free, on campus parking. Early mornings are tough enough on students and finding a parking spot during early-morning-rush-hour shouldn’t be the hassle that it is. Currently, students who drive have four options; to park on campus and risk the parking ticket expense, or to park on the surrounding streets and move their car every two hours to avoid a parking ticket, or to pay to park in neighbouring streets’ parking garages, or to park in the neighbouring establishments’ lots, thus risking a parking ticket and enduring a long walk back to St. Louis. It can be determined that none of these four parking methods are cost or time efficient, because all four methods could leave you with a parking ticket or parking expense, and three of the four methods of parking require a ten to fifteen minute walk back to St. Louis campus. If the administration of St. Louis creates free, on campus parking, both students and faculty can enjoy less traffic congestion surrounding the school and a less stressful, costly, and time consuming decision of where to park.…
