Weightlifting Is More Important Than Just Losing Weight
Weight lifting, many great things can come from it. Starting out, weightlifting is one of the biggest things that get in the way. In the gym one day I saw a new guy in the gym, maybe he looked a 145 pounds. He walks over to the rack, which is right in front of the mirrors, looks at himself and only from watching from a distance I can only think whats going on in his mind. Maybe he was thinking “ Man I look good, I know I can bench at least 135 pounds” which is a lot for a new guy. He can barely put the forty-fives on the side, and the bar is forty-five pounds, so I'm inching closer to make sure he wouldn't kill himself. I was surprised he got the bar off the rack, but as soon as he did that weight dropped down so fast. I ran over and helped him out, and he thanked me and started to ask for some tips and tricks, and I told him he is already on the right path with weight lifting. Ever since I started to work out since I was fourteen my self-confidence shot up. When I was that awkward teenager, it helped my confidence grow and also helped with me playing baseball. Weight lifting actually makes your metabolism burn longer than cardio. Your metabolism burns for at least for twelve hours versus four hours for cardio. Running all the time wasn't really working out for me, but as soon as I started to lift weights, I dropped weight so quick. My uncle actually inspired me to start weight lifting seriously. This is why I think weight lifting benefits you more than it hurts you. Weight lifting benefits people in more ways than just losing weight. Improving strength and helping in daily activities. Self-confidence shoots up and you feel a lot healthier in more ways than one. Building up muscle tissue helps prevent further physical injury.     For many years there has been a debate between which is better for weight control and all around health and fitness, Cardiorespiratory Exercise or Weight Training. Many people tend to focus only on one aspect of the physical wellness. For example women, like myself may focus more on cardiorespiratory and flexibility training more so than Weight training. This is out of fear of injury, or the muscles becoming too bulky. Women tend to want to burn more calories, therefore they focus on exercises’ such as aerobics, walking, swimming, and jogging. Weight training promotes short term stiffness of the blood vessels, which could promote High Blood Pressure over time and increase the load on the heart. This would not be good for someone who has a history of Hypertension. A variety of studies have shown that the best way to offset the cardiovascular stress caused by strength training is to combine cardiorespiratory endurance exercise such as a brisk walk, bicycling, or elliptical machine, immediately after a weight training exercise. Regular aerobic exercise causes your lungs to process more oxygen with less effort; your heart to pump more blood with fewer beats; and the blood supply directed to your muscles to increase. As a result, by performing cardiovascular exercises, you are increasing your body's endurance and efficiency.…
