    Arguments Against Zoos

The general topic of discussion among scholars is that the health of zoo animals in Britain needs specific attention as a way to counter the increasing push for the banning of zoos. Most scholars tend to specifically address the causes of low health of zoo animals. The most common causes addressed are visitor interactions, types of enclosures, and a lack of opportunities for wild behavior. There are scholars such as G.R. Hosey and Gareth Davey who both feel that zoo visitors have a strong impact on animals’ health. Davey argues that visitors inflict high stress on the animals, but that the measure of the stress depends on a multiplicity of variables including type of animal, person and surrounding environment (Hosey). Davey, in contrast, argues…

Stampeding elephants rushing through verdant fields. Slithering snakes creeping along the Amazon floor. Gazelles grazing through the undisturbed prairie. SNAP, the feasting wolf captured the innocent gazelle as it devours it alive, then scrimmaging through the bones for any extra meat of the gazelle that is no more. Sadly, this is a true reality, and in zoos, animals are completely safe and don’t take the risk of being eaten alive each and every day. This world needs zoos for reasons such as: protection, conservation, education, and research.…

Zoos appear to be fun, but as you get more in depth are they what they seem to be? If animals could talk they would answer that question with “no” but, they cannot. So, instead of them telling you the horrors of zoos, I will. In zoos, animals are forced to live in a small area and have to learn to adapt to a new lifestyle. Some animals suffer from serious problems that they would most likely not experience if they were not in a zoo. Zoos affect the animals wildlife, their natural behavior, and zoos cause injuries and deaths upon animals and humans.…

It is this wealth of prior knowledge that I intended to incite via the lesson starter. It is assumed that most children have, by the age of ten, knowledge of zoo’s and animals in relation to their natural habitat. Using a dramatic convention that allows the children to depict a scene of their favourite animal within its natural habitat, not only encourages them to engage in being more social and expressive students, but also, through appropriate teacher questioning, may well establish internal notions that will be fostered during the reading of Zoo.…

As mentioned by Hutchins, “The best zoos include conservation, education, and science among their core missions, and the animals in their collections can be viewed as ambassadors for their counterparts in the wild. Many species are endangered or threatened and would have little chance of survival without human intervention. Increasingly, zoos are playing an important role in those efforts.” Even though Laidlaw goes and says that “I can’t understand why the more responsible segments of the zoo industry have not come to their senses and acknowledged the obvious—the present state of zoos is…

Zoo is short form of zoological park. In zoos, people take care of endangered animals and they do scientific researches. However I believe caging animals, seizing their freedom and doing heap of heap stuff like circuses, people have fun and some people earn money is the main thing happening in zoos. Like everybody else animals love to have their freedom, they love to be with their parents and friends.…
