The barbarians seem to be very barbaric. The term barbaros was the greek word for foreigners. The word barbaric means “evil”, they had an organized army. The barbarians were a nomadic group of people. The barbarians slaughtered almost everyone that they saw, the prisoners were captured. When they captured prisoners they would bury them alive upside down. Being buried alive upside down was some type of execution. They were barbaric because of the way they treated the prisoners. They barbarians were not stupid, they were very smart in some ways. They were able to build canals. They built the canals to improve and make transportation easier than it was. The barbarians were very civilized. They were able to think outside of the box to come up with new ideas and inventions. ( document 3) When the barbarians would join a battle they would always
They had a system/law that allows them to have as many wives as they want to. This law is very barbaric because people shouldn’t be owned. Some of the women they buy from the women’s parents when they buy them they pay a lot of money. “ Each man has as many wives as he can keep,one a hundred, another fifty, another ten- one more, another less.” It was a custom to them to have many wives and marry any of their relations. The only people they couldn’t marry was their mother, daughter and sister from the same mom. They are able to marry their sisters who have the same father and they can even marry their fathers wife after he dies. Therefore the barbarians were very civilized and barbaric. The documents gave examples of why they were barbaric . All the documents prove that the barbarians were smart, and and an organized civilization. They described how they fought their battles and what their laws were for having many wives, and how they treated the prisoners. All these things that they are talking about and describing are what makes the barbarians
