leadership style is different to the other two managers because this type of leadership gives all authority to its employees. Subordinates are allowed to work as they choose with minimal or no interference. Although, this could bring the feeling of authority to the employees, this kind of style is least effective due to it can lead to an imbalance to the company and less communication and cooperation which can cause a failure in achieving the objectives of RTA.
In the second style of leadership, Manager 2 shows an autocratic style of leadership. This type of leadership is very different from the two managers since Manager 2 is a strict type of person, in other words, he is not considerate on the suggestions and opinions of its subordinates. He makes all the decisions without the consultation of subordinates. The autocratic work environment does normally have less or no flexibility at all. Guidelines, procedures and policies are all additions of an autocratic manager.
This style of leadership may maintain the company’s progress since all subordinates follow one decision and policy made by the manager itself.
This could also affect the retention and motivation of employees. Having no flexibility or consideration in suggestions or opinions of employees in RTA may demotivate them and may feel they don’t belong in the company which they lose interest in working for RTA and may have to resign and look for a better job that they would feel appreciated and wanted by the company.
In the last style mentioned in the scenario, Manager 3 demonstrates a democratic type of leadership. Subordinates are involved in the process of decision-making, unlike autocratic. This type of leadership is focused on the employees’ contributions in suggestions and opinions. Manager 3 as a democratic leader holds the final responsibility, but he/she is known to delegate authority to other people, who determine work projects.
The uniqueness of this style is that the process of communication either upward or downward is very much active in RTA. A democratic leadership is one of the most preferred leadership style and it generates fairness, competence, courage, intelligence, creativity and honesty to the employees which makes them feel more involved in the company and motivated to work in
RTA.
