what's an american?
Different persons of diverse places have assorted definitions for the word American. One of the most shared is a person that comes from the United States of America can be born in the United States of America moved to or even dual citizenship. People normally of what are the standards of an American but there is always the doubt of what an American is?

One of the definitions as aforementioned is to be a United States of America citizen not concerning if is naturalized citizen or if obtained a dual citizenship as long as he has a United States of America passport. This is the most common definition of American that someone is an American in that he belongs to the United States of America. As the context in the video “I am an American” showed anyone can be an American from any part of the world as the video showed Afro-Americans, child, women, men, cops, workers, cowboys, firemen, etc. trying to show that it isn’t the background of a person is what that person believes.

Another common way of being an American is by the culture as knowing the history, enjoying the popular culture, supporting the country, being patriotic, etc. This definition of American is basically being the ideal American when it comes to sports, pop culture and enjoying what the standard American would. A person often would say to other for example “oh man you don’t like football you aren’t a true American”, that might be right if your definition of American is this. Is basically stereotyping the Americans and saying that to be American a person should be stereotype American.

People’s ideas are not all the same so they will always have differences in the way of defining something such as art. The definition of a American can be interpreted in different ways depending on the ideas of the person.
