Executive Summary
On a constant daily basis, Associação Casa Grande must fundraise for unrestricted funds to maintain a positive balance in the annual fund. Located in Lencois, Bahia Brazil, Associação Casa Grande (ACG) is a very small nongovernmental organization with a three year average cost of $4,211.56USD/R$7,412.35. This calculation includes operating, programs, and capital expenditures (infrastructure) from 2010 to 2012 ( Appendix A: Yearly Average Costs). Like many nongovernmental organizations, ACG is an independently within its constituency model (Appendix D) attempting to provide a private service to the community that the government has not been able to adequately provide. For the future sustainable prosperity of ACG, this comprehensive research will analyze all four different types of fundraising activities that ACG engages in.
Calculating Fundraising Costs
ACG is a legal, grassroots, NGO that abides by all Brazilian legal requirements (Please see Appendix A). In the founder’s own words, this is a description of the mandatory legal requirements to maintain NGO status within Brazil: “We basically have to submit four documents annually to the government: Declaraco Juridiaca - declaration of any financial moviment - really only necessary for government money or values above a certain amound, ADCTF - 2 times a year to say if we have paid tax - as we are tax exempt we don 't but still have to declare each year that we don 't if not we pay a fine, and RAIS - declaration to say if we have any registered workers if we receive money from the government we have to present the accounts for this (private e-mail conversation, October 2013).”
According to the monthly statements based on the cash accounting system, and our understanding of legal financial filing requirements, the only filing requirement for ACG is the ADCTF, a basic
