In 1911, Tolkien attended Oxford, where he studies Classics, Old English, Welsh, Finnish, And Germanic languages. In 1913, Tolkien’s first poem was published called, “From the many-willow'd margin of the immemorial Thames” in the magazine of Exeter college. For fun, Tolkien started to create his own languages. Exeter College was another institution that Tolkien attended to get his first-class degree in Anglo-Saxon and in Germanic languages in classic literature. Tolkien was not only a writer but a great lieutenant as well and served in World War I, but never forgot writing.
