There were many Indiana wars in the 17th century, 18th century, but mainly in the 19th century. Etheir involving Indian slavery or mainly the English, colonists, Spanish, or the U.S army trying to take over their land. Wars in the 17th century were the Powhatan Confederacy, Pequot war, King Philip’s war, Pueblo revolt, and French and Indian war. The Powhatan Confederacy began 1622 and ended 1644 in Jamestown Virginia. The war was made because when the colonists came the Indians wanted to establish a good way of trading and sharing goods or food. War happened because the colonists would move from place to place and take richer hunting grounds and leave nothing for the Indians. Colonists killed 600-700 men, women and children near the mystic river. The Pequot chief became allies with some English colonist and defeated Narragansett the colonists who attacked the Pequot tribe before. King Philip’s war started in 1675 and ended in 1678 in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. King Philip wanted to drive out the settlers, beginning at Swansea, Massachusetts which led to slaughter in both sides and led to his own death. Pueblo revolt war started in 1680 in Arizona and New Mexico. The war was led by Pope’. He led pueblo Indians to conquer the Spanish to make Indians independent. It was one of the most famous uprisings in history. The Indians stayed independent for 12 years. But then Spanish reconqured in 1692. The last war was the French and Indian war. It started in 1689 and ended in 1763 in the eastern woodlands. It was like a contest between France and Britain because they wanted to fight for the possession of North America.
