Latin American revolutionaries drew influence from the Enlightenment concepts of equality, self-rule, and natural rights. The different types of people in Latin America had different reasons to rebel, but Enlightenment ideas and Enlightenment-influenced writings,like ones from the American and French Revolutions, inspired them all in many ways. Although the revolutions claimed to have the goal of attaining these rights, none of them ended up achieving this.
