World War I occurred in the years 1914-1918. The Great War was another name for WWI it was known to be "the war to end all wars" but instead ended up being the war to start all wars. The war was said to start when the Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife were assassinated by Garlio Princip. This was such an uprising because Austria-Hungary blamed Serbia, who was supported by Russia. Austria was waiting for confirmation on their alliance before they declared war. The three main causes of World War I would be Nationalism, Imperialism, and Militarism.
Nationalism is where countries have so much pride in themselves that if they were insulted they would not back down, this would cause a world war because it created tensions between countries. It created competition between countries "to be the best country" and gave many Europeans a sense of pride in themselves and their …show more content…
In order to have one it has to be drilled into their minds that fighting war is good from a young age. One example of militarism would be in first grade when the kids would go school and have to march and would sing songs that went along with march. Another example would be when the young boys would go to school and be "brainwashed" with telling them that fighting for your country is great and that's what you should do when your done with school because you do not want to let your country down.
