This brings the subject of different obstacles, or possible impediments that may or may not cross my way, one being the fact of being able to afford for this, and while
there is student loans, and other types of aide to help with the financial burden a college education means today. There still is a sense of wariness for the such. Another obstacle that is very real to me, is the fact that I have moved to a new city where I know no one, a new city where I must prove myself that I can accomplish this dream, and that I will be successful. This is probably the scariest of the two.
Getting through school is not easy, whether one is at a community college, or at a four-year university. But one must set strategies for success. Personally, I have stopped working full time in order to achieve this dream, I plan on getting admitted into the Upper Division Social Work program. I plan on doing this with the help of others around me. UNCC has a vast amount of resources for all students, from a writing lab, all the way to a counseling center, and I plan on using every resource given to me by this institution.
Finally, since the Upper Division Social Work requires a minimum GPA of 2.5, and it is highly competitive. I plan on studying longer hours, asking question when unsure of something, forming study groups with people in the same program. This way, one day I will be able to walk up the stage, collect my diploma, and call myself, “ADAN VERGARA, BSW.”
