Primarily, my family is greatly threaten by the fact that the congress does not pass an immigration reform. Furthermore, bills are passed that protect my family from deportation and benefit my education. My American Dream is to become a successful soccer player while obtaining a degree in Civil Engineering. It is getting affected by the fact that their is a new president that can get other people in power to agree with him that all immigrants or a majority of them should be deported. The article “The Role of State and Local Governments in Immigration Enforcement” states, “Since 2009, the Obama administration has enforced the laws as it wishes they were, not as the laws actually are or were intended to be, thus guaranteeing that most of the 12 million illegal aliens residing in the U.S. will never face deportation. This is creating a powerful incentive for millions more to enter.” In other words it's trying to say that an immigration reform would help the current immigrants living in the U.S. However it would make it much harder for other immigrants to come into the U.S. This is important because although it would give citizenship to current immigrants it would make it more difficult for new upcoming immigrants. …show more content…
There can be both pros and cons in regards to an immigration reform. According to Bob Goodlatte he said, “To be clear, any immigration reform proposal must first guarantee that our immigration laws are enforced both at the border and within the United States.” In other words Representative and Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee is trying to say that an immigration reform would not be a big help due to the fact that it is not clear of its benefits and drawbacks.
