While reading 1984, the character of Big Brother can be compared to many leaders throughout the history. Specifically, there are many comparisons between Big Brother and the current leader of America, Barack Obama. Their comparisons are using media to spay on citizens, the Thought police and Perpetual War, just to name a few.
The greatest similarity I see between Big Brother in 1984 and the leader of the US, is not giving their citizen enough privacy. In both 1984 and U.S.A, the leaders are using the technology to spay on their citizen.

Specifically, the Thought police can be related to the US police now days. In Oceana the Thought Police have monitor all the citizens and taken their informal laws and rules. Big Brother have the thought police to look for uncovering thought crimes and punishing the citizens from those crimes, no matter how small it is. For example. In page 35 while Mr. person sleeping his childes thought that their father did a thought crime, therefore he was vaporized. Also WS was getting in room 101 because he has made love with Julia. If we compered it to the US police force and government, they may think they have complete privacy, but the truth is their privacy, is less respected then they may have believed. Now in the US people live in fear when they see a cop around them. Since the citizens can’t trust workers in government because they are spaying on the citizens. Most people live in fear when they see a cop and say, "Look! It's a cop! Watch out!", or something to that effect in which they are afraid to act as if they would without the cop's presence. Therefore, both the citizens in our world and 1984's are forced to feel fearful and guilty when a face of authority is around, but obviously with the Thought Police it was a bit more stressful and
