During the horrendous battles, courageous soldiers experience things that they will never forget during their protract time at war. There are several contrasts between the two war books. The Red Badge of Courage contributed less information about the ending than what A Soldier’s Heart provided about it. There are also numerous comparisons between the two books considering both young men went through horrific occasions, and still found a way to mold back into society after the war was over. Soldiers go through overwhelming thoughts, and devastating feelings during the rough war, as shown in these books. The Main Characters of the books are Charlie, A Soldier’s Heart and Henry, The Red Badge of Courage. Charlie and Henry have diverse feelings for the duration of the war. Henry feels petrified during battle and deserts the rest of the men who were there patriotically fighting. Although Charlie was not afraid to fight, Henry quickly regretted his decision about joining. Charlie lived in a small, worn-out shack after the traumatic battles had ended. The author did not say what happened to Henry, or where he lived after the fight. Charlie left the war with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, it was not said if Henry had any type of tragic mental illness after leaving the war. During the many battles Charlie was brutally injured, Henry was not injured during battle, but did suffer an injury outside of the terrific fights. The author of The Red Badge of Courage should have contributed more information about Henry’s whereabouts after the attending the lengthy
