A Sikh uses meditation to become one with God as Christians use prayer to worship and glorify God. Each of these religions teach that one must rely on their own actions, one must try to be a good person, love their God, and try to dispel "...many impurities such as lust, anger, greed, attachment to materialistic things, and ego" (Sikh Beliefs, 2016, para. 11). In each religion the main theme of the purpose of life is to become one with God. Salvation between Sikh's beliefs and that of Christians is similar when it comes to having faith in God, but that is were the similarity ends. To find salvation in Sikhism "...one must live [an] honest life and meditate on God" (Sikh Beliefs, 2016, para. 12). The path to salvation for a Christian one must be baptized, "...repent of their sins, trust Jesus as their Lord and Savior, do good works, follow church rituals, and/or avoid certain specific behaviors -- activities that are often not clearly defined" (Robinson, 2016, para. 1).
