India consisted of empires, whereas China consisted of dynasties. During this time period, both regions went through two of each. Both had successful periods because the empire or dynasty that was in rule, led them to a strong rule. When that ruler fell, the regions saw periods of low points. India, faced times when the people living in that region were converted to Buddhism, like in the Mauryan Empire, to help unify the region. Then came the Gupta empire, Hinduism came to be the common base and worked as a unifier between the people, and the Buddhism began hiding. While China was in the rule of the Qin Dynasty, they believed in Legalism and devoted their time to making the state stronger and expanding it. They believed that individuals should be cultivators or be a part of military services. Then came the Han Dynasty, this dynasty set a base on Legalism and started to incorporate Confucianism. Both of these regions had rulers that lasted for some time, until someone else came along that was better and had new ideas for the region. In India the Mauryan Empire was strong until Ashoka died and the Gupta Empire began to rule. In China the Qin Dynasty was weaker than most and when Qin Shihuangdi died, many uprisings and revolts came up until Liu Bang, the founder of the Han Dynasty, came to rule. India’s rulers seemed to be more accepting and open to everyone. While China, was usually under harsh, strict rule that never seemed to get through to the individuals that lived in that
