The idea is strange, yet oddly simple. Dead people walking. There are many different lores behind why these corpses have reanimated. It became a classic among horror films, and was admired by many film artists across the country. Soon, the topic of zombies became a strong force in the horror genre of film and literature. In 1968, The Night of Living Dead was released, directed by the legendary George Romero. The film struck like wildfire in America, being one of the most suspenseful movies made to that date, and also hitting on controversial topics such as civil rights and death.
In the 1985, the rumors of voodoo potions creating became all too real when Claurvius Narcisse was thought to have been transformed into a zombie through a series of drugs that put him close to death, yet in a trance-like, hypnotic state. He soon was thought to have died, and was pronounced dead, but, according to a man claiming to be Claurvius, he was never dead. He was simply unable to move or speak, simply trapped inside his motionless body. He was then buried alive.
