A little after Mohammed’s death, soldiers fought against Christians and Muslims took control of all North Africa and Egypt. As Muslim’s power had grown, they had controlled Jerusalem as a whole. Alexius Comneus, the emperor Byzantines emperor, was worried and didn’t like the control that the Muslim possessed, so he decided to go to pope for help. They needed to get the help of all the Christians located Western Europe to support the East and help them fight. In 1905, due to the popes request to the Council of Clermont, many individuals were gathered to fight the Muslims leading to the first crusade. In the first crusade, many were killed including; Jews, Muslims, and Christian’s. The third came as the result of the fall of Jerusalem to Saladin. Being ruled by three different kings, things didn’t go as planned, therefore, they lost control and the crusade was unsuccessful. The last one arrived to the Byzantine’s capital conquering their emperor. This led to the detachment of the Greek with Latin Christianity which led to the empires decline being conquered. These were only four of the nine crusades. Although the crusades had failed to take over Jerusalem, Europe was greatly affected by them. Europe had few nobles, therefore, it was easier for others to come and take extra control of territory and make their own regulations. It benefited Europe because it provided them with a knowledgeable development. This all began with the development of trade.
