To a small extent the Barbarian invasion played a factor in the collapse of Rome but the main reasons why Rome collapsed was because of the political factors, economic causes and Christianity.
There was lack of organization in the Roman government. The Roman government was made for small city-states and not for a huge empire of that of Rome, which made it very difficult and hard to control and rule over. The Emperors did not control the military properly. Generals sometimes assassinated the emperor for their own gain. Citizens lost all interest in the government because it became to distant to them and that meant that life during that period of time will have been hard
and difficult because the citizens had no say in the running of the country. In conclusion due to bad leadership and the poor political factors the Roman Empire economy collapsed and this resulted in so many economic causes.
Rome failed to advance technologically because of slavery. The cost of government including the military welfare became burdensome. The infrastructures of the cites and buildings in Rome declined and began a steady decay. Parts of the empire were not taxed while others were overtaxed. A balance of trade deficit began to kick in or occur. Lead poisoning through leaden water pipes and cups caused a mental decline in the population and plagues whipped out one-tenth of the population. In conclusion not only did the Roman Empire fall because of economic factor it also fell due to religion.
Rome collapsed because of the religion, which was been practiced the most which was Christianity. Christians were not willing to join the Roman army, because they claimed that Jesus preached peace, so because of this the emperors recruited slaves, criminals, gladiators as part of the Roman army. Great percentages of the Roman citizens were monks. Monks should live their life in prayer. They should neither get married nor have children. This led to a fall in population and a reduction in taxation.
So in conclusion because of the high percent of Christians, the Roman army fell and also because majority of the population were monks and they were not allowed to get married so the Roman population fell. So it is also because of Christianity the Roman Empire fell.
Although the Barbarians invaded Rome that did not cause the Roman Empire to collapse. The Roman Empire collapsed because of the factors listed above
