The Korean War started in 1950 and took place in a time that was very known to war. The war ending in a peace treaty singing between USA and North Korea, the South Koreans never actually signed for peace. This is often said by the North Koreans as an excuse to carry on the so called war by having army troops all along the border. This may not be a surprise to many due to North Koreas well known extremism and overall lack of connection the rest of the world. This is an outcome of the familial ruling that had dictated the country since Korea division.

When north and South Korea split along the 38th parallel there were meant to be free elections intended to unite the country. But before these could happen all of the short and long term causes managed to anger the North Korean forces and gave them reason to cross the border. Many of the causes are linked to the cold war. Some believe that it may have been a show of soviet strength toward the Americans to get their own back on the ‘climb over’ event in Berlin. Others believe it was actually a show of soviet strength towards the Chinese to show to show Mao, the chinse ruler, that he was the leader of communism in Asia. There was also conspiracy that the North Korean government had planned attacks in Moscow and they were backed by Pecking and this would strengthen the Soviet Union’s defences in the pacific – America thought that this was the reason. An independent attack on North Korea, without soviet backing because America had not included any region of Korea in their defence plans for the pacific.
