Urban transformation, Railroads, and the Steel Industry all helped contribute to the American Industrial Revolution.The American Industrial Revolution was the rapid development of industry that took place in the late 18th century and early 19th century. The Revolution was categorized by the use of steam power, the growth of factories, and the mass production of manufactured goods. Between 1860 and 1910 the urban population went from 6 million to over 44 million. Rural Americans left their farms to work in a factory in the city. Housing, water, and sanitation were greatly unavailable, Tenements were dirty and overcrowded, factory workers often worked 12 to 18 hours a day.
