What Depicts an Achiever in today
What Depicts an Achiever in Today’s Society The word “achieve” means “to bring to a successful end” or to “accomplish a certain task.” To be an achiever in today’s world is a testimony that any person can accomplish with hard work and dedication. However, it is more than just gaining the award of an achiever, it is being able to stay at the top and continuing to hold the title. With today’s increase in population, there are constant struggles between those who want to achieve and those who go out and actually achieve. More people are being employed, more people are going to school for their education so they may get a job, and of course this means more people are achieving. However, an achiever in my eyes, is more than just accomplishing one certain task such as getting a job. It is about receiving that job and doing extraordinary things that makes them remembered forever. Take the National Basketball Association, for example, and how many young players from college are drafted to a professional basketball team, and now are considered “achievers”. I would definitely have to testify against this statement, because to me, an achiever in the NBA is someone who gets drafted and makes their career in the NBA something to remember. Would you rather be remembered as someone who got the job, or someone who got the job and positively influenced themselves and the people around them? What depicts an achiever in today’s society is someone who not only accomplishes a certain task, but someone who is relentless after. An achiever is not remembered for getting the job, they are remembered for what they do on the job.

While some people equate having wealth and power as being successful, that is often not the case. Although earning and having money is an important aspect of our economy and existence, earning large sums of money is not an accurate way of measuring nor determining if a person is successful or not. Those who find true satisfaction in life, regardless of their wealth or social status, are the ones who have reached true success. As put into words by award-winning author Maya Angelou, "success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it." True success is achieved when an individual has reached a point in their life where their goals and achievements are meaningful and…

Setting small goals will then lead to setting even bigger goals since you know you can accomplish small ones. Most people measure success monetarily. We spend the majority of our lives working towards success (“Defining success”). The word “success” is defined in the Merriam Webster dictionary as the attainment of wealth, favor, or eminence. Individuals who would be considered successful in this generation are Kim Kardashian or even Justin Bieber. These celebrities simply live in the moment, without thinking about what their goals are. Everyone wants to be known for something. Success takes several different forms but because of societal issues we have lost sight of its true definition. To be successful is to have a purpose, to know where you're at, to know where you're going and to not be afraid to work for it.…
