June Page needed an experienced engineer to help gain the knowledge needed to learn about IS activities, further investigate any issues, recommendations, and look into possible options. She asked Charles Browning because he has an extensive scientific computing background. She assigned Browning to analysis the complete IS picture. Then, based on the IS needs to give three or four basic directional options. This report was to be completed in six weeks, straightforward, and no limitations to the recommendations. After she reviewed the findings she would then incorporate one into the 2013 business plan.
This report appeared to be necessary because the years of neglect, restructuring, and growth had finally caught up to them. She hoped that with this report she would be able to cut out the layers of management that could have contributed to the IS problems.
