For me, the field of Mathematics represents that opportunity. As I grew up, I realized that most people have a phobia when it comes to mathematics. However, I always found manipulating numbers fascinating.
Moreover, the abstract thinking that is behind it delights me. Thus, mathematics became a passion for me, a passion that I wish to uncover its deepest secrets and further the field through research. At the same time, show to people that Mathematics is nothing to be afraid of, but a tool that can make you think and discover a world full of wonders.
Moreover, being about to graduate with an associate’s degree in Mathematics has given me a detailed insight on what to expect in the field, and a very strong foundation on how to succeed in such demanding program. Thus, through hard work and determination, I aim to succeed and break the barriers that I may encounter.
Furthermore, being a foreigner and having to adapt to a new language and culture, having the opportunity to attend college and majoring in Mathematics will demonstrate to my younger siblings that even against the struggles of someone without much support, when you work hard towards achieving your goals they are within your reach. Hopefully, it will inspire their young minds and they will try to attain a degree as well.
By the end of this journey, I expect to have acquired the necessary knowledge to keep moving forward to grad school. Also, I hope to have the qualities to pass the knowledge that I will acquire onto other, and help them see Mathematics, not as something they have to painfully go through in school. Instead, help them see it as something that will open their minds to new possibilities; more importantly, that they can learn that destiny is not written in stone, and when they put their mind and energy to work they can reach the stars.
