What Does It Mean To Be A Counselor

Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. Faith knows I will keep my promises, believing that things you are hoping for are as real as things you can already see. I remember being a first time counselor in Mentone and wondering if I was making the right decision, working 500 miles away from home. I did not even have a car when I accepted the job and was wondering how I would even get to camp. So, I decided to buy a car and recruited some friends to work with me. I took a leap of faith, hoping I was doing the right thing! From flat land to a mountain top, I was ready for my adventure. Let’s just say that not all the counselors were committed and took their job as serious as I did. Sometimes I had to do my job as well as my co-counselors' job. It did not mean that they were bad counselors as much as I think looking back in time; I don’t think
Good comments and bad comments alike. So remember that ears are hearing and eyes are seeing and of course, our Creator knows all. What impacted me the most is how much of an impact that our counselors have on our campers and other counselors. So, just when you think that you are not making a difference, you really are. Remember how long it took for Abraham and Sarah to have a son? But of course when Isaac came, their joy was much greater because of their long wait. So whatever struggles you are going through, or whatever you are waiting on, never give up faith. You may never hear how much good you have done for a camper, but one day someone will be telling a story about you. They will be sharing to others, or maybe their own child, about how you made their time at camp special. Don’t ever let another person take away your faith. It is amazing to see what people can do when you have faith in
