What Does The Color Blue Symbolize In The Secret Life Of Bees
In Sue Monk Kidd’s book, The Secret Life of Bees, the color blue symbolized the love others felt towards Lily. Therefore, T. Ray’s lack of love for his daughter, Lily is shown through his inability to love his daughter enough to even know her favorite color. “‘I said, do you know what my favorite color is?’ ‘I know one thing, and that’s I’m gonna find you, Lily, and when I do, I’m gonna tear your behind to pieces --’” (160). Moreover, the color blue, Lily’s favorite color, while seemingly meaningless at first, symbolizes the love others feel towards her. Further, the fact that T.
