The wolves, in this story, are shrouded in mystery. When they first enter the story, no one is quite sure what they are. Once the father realizes what they are, he immediately goes looking for them but then discovers something far worse than the wolves. They had taken his daughter’s life. The pack is uncontrollable and wild much as fate is. No one can decide exactly what will happen in their life, and no one can control a wild pack of wolves. In many ways, the wolves are likened to fate in the sense that they can take lives or even control them. Many people have a fear of wolves, the pack could end up destroying a village through terrorizing attacks when it has became so desperate. Fate brings one many misfortunes one must compensate for. It does not give you a choice on the misfortunes it brings you, they are simply there. The encounter with the wolves in the story left the father and the son emotionally scarred. That experience caused much turmoil in the relationships they have. The son goes on to neglect and mistreat his own children because of the forlorn and morose feelings he has building up inside of him because of something that was out of his hands. Just one decision that was made by fate, and his entire life was
