What Does The Word Nigger Mean

The English language is used to communicate in pleasant and dreadful ways. In order to understand one another we have to speak. There are words that mean several different meanings to people. One of those words is the “N” word which stands for Nigger. The “N” word is neither pleasant nor dreadful, but is effects people in different ways. The word nigger came from the Latin word Niger which means black. It became Negro which means black in Spanish and Portuguese. It was a word that came about during slavery that was used to describe an African American slave. It was used as a degrading word towards African Americans. It has been changed from nigger to nigga. When used by one to their peers and friends with many possible meanings. A word once used as an insult towards blacks is now used as a seemingly positive word towards a person of any skin color. Some African Americans still get offended when a person that’s not of African American descent uses the word, its considered racist. A double standard is placed on this word that shouldn’t be there. On Urban dictionary one of the definitions under the word nigger is “a term that is racist, as long as the speaker of it is not black. Forbidden on most all of television and other forms of public entertainment, at times referenced to as the n-word. However, cracker, a term racist against whites, is a completely acceptable term used in any context of any national broadcast...hmm...” All over TV and the internet black people use the N word with no hesitation every time. Black people repeatedly say “that nigga” or “my nigga” and so on without thinking twice about its origin but the second someone that’s not of color even thinks about that word they’re considered
