What Happened: A Thematic Summary
Paul, Sabrina & How It's Painfully Obvious the Writers Are Winging It
Soap-fans are used to a fair amount historical revisions and logic-defying tales, but rapid plot and characterization changes are happening so frequently, consistency is non-existent and you're left wondering if the writers are fully mapping out concepts before they air. This was no more apparent than with the return of Paul Hornsby (Richard Burgi). First, he came to town wanting to take over Sonny's territory and use Ava Jerome as a lackey. Then, when the writers seemingly considered pairing him with Anna Devane, he was an undercover good guy that was trying to stop arms dealers. Though Paul took TJ hostage to bait and shoot Sonny (he was paralyzed and wheelchair bound for

It turns out to be Nelle Hayes (Chloe Lanier; 8/8), a teacher who claims her parents took her kidney against her will when she was young for black market profit (8/16). Anxious to show gratitude and get acquainted, Carly invites her to stay a while. Nelle says she's lost her job, shortly before framing Avery's nanny for theft, giving way to Carly hiring her (8/22). She's later offered the position of personal assistant (9/9) and makes herself indispensable, raising the suspicions of Bobbie (10/28). Kiki (Hayley Erin) struggles to work out her feelings between Morgan and Dillon. Carly (Laura Wright) pushes her to make a decision, so a still-fragile Morgan (Bryan Craig) won't have another breakdown (6/30), and Kiki opts to set Dillon (Robert Palmer Watkins) aside. Ava (Maura West) replaces Morgan's bipolar medication with placebos, hoping his manic behavior will frighten Kiki away (8/16). Starting to spiral indeed, flub ups at work and school lead to him retreating to gambling, drinking and being dismissive to Kiki. Overwhelmed and still interested in Dillon, she plans to break it off with Morgan (10/6). Ava riles Morgan up by telling him Kiki and Dillon were hanging out (10/5). He goes to the Quartermaine mansion to find her, and mistakes the shadows of Ned and Olivia making love for Kiki and Dillon. He gets hammered at the bar, and when prevented from driving by TJ, he punches TJ out and steals Julian Jerome's car. Jason gets him to pull-over, but when Morgan gets out, a bomb explodes and kills him. His remains are not recovered (10/7). Given that Sonny (Maurice Benard) was in the process of calling off a hit on Julian that Carly begged him not to initiate in the first place, it's assumed he's responsible for Morgan's death. The Corinthos Clan is at odds and Kiki's guilt causes her to renege on being with Dillon, as she believes

The UDC was one such group that historian David Blight believes was fighting for control of historical interpretation during what he calls the second era of the Lost Cause. If there is any one point by the United Daughters of the Confederacy that displayed their support of the Lost Cause, Caroline Janney provides the example with the women’s intent to commemorate the faithful slaves “when they pressed for the erection of a national faithful slave monument.” Janney is showing how the South tried to impart a belief that this type of monument would show how slave owners valued and respected the slave. Even though the women avoided discussing race, Janney explains, the women went out of their way to praise the African Americans but only in the…

After the Civil War many of the “Lost Cause” advocates stated that their work was not political, this statement is proved correct as the majority of their work was social. The South’s desire to protect the “southern way of life” was the main cause of the “Lost Cause”. Reconstruction left behind the unfortunate legacy of unsuccessfully ending segregation among races in the South, as it did little to fix the issues that the Civil War was fought for.…

I never used to write. In fact, I didn’t much like it. Little did I know that writing would become obsolete and a physiological requirement for the well being of my life. From an early age on all I did was read. I grew up in an isolated environment where books were my escape, and escape was necessary from the hardships of home. I remember being a young seven-year-old boy wearing a pillowcase around my neck fastened with a pen. I was eating animal crackers at the time, and my step dad was calling out for me. I stood up from my crouched position and raised my hand as I learned from pre-school, and said, “ I’m here daddy.” At that moment my step father grabbed me by the cape harshly compressing my trachea purposefully, shaking me back and forth with his hands around my neck as I began to choke on the appetizing cracker animal crumbs within the back of my throat. I didn’t understand at the time what was really going on. My mother came out of the room and my dad acted as if nothing happened and told me to…

I would say that the characters on this TV show are well described and developed. Also the story line was refreshing because it showed similar occurrences to those of a real hospital. The story development starts off with a smaller issue of Meredith trying to find a roommate. The drama soon begins to build as she tries to keep a business relationship with a doctor at the hospital. She is also anxious to be in the room and assist with a surgery. she must also deal with the horrific souvenir of a patient's brutal rape. And her visit to the nursery leads to a conflict with a pediatric intern. Meanwhile, Cristina and Alex develop their bedside manners, in a manner of speaking; George has a depressing day overseeing codes; Izzie runs into a language barrier with one of her patients; and Burke finds out why Webber was preferred for a leadership position over him.…
