Historians must obtain information by sifting through surviving human made objects known as artifacts. Most of the people that I know don't like history because they think is boring, these people are not observing the knowledge that is available for them. History is not my strongest subject, but I will try my best to get the highest grade in every class I take now and in the future. Since my major is related to math I don't have to take a lot of history classes according to the graduation and cal state university requirements.
James F. Wickens stated that: "Any story about human experience that tries to exclude fable and error in the interest of truth has a claim to the name of history". History is the greatest way of knowing where each human race comes from and how it started. For example, this Chicano/a history class that Mrs. Lopez teach is very interesting because I'm learning how and where my race came from and I'm also identifying myself. Moreover, Mrs. Lopez is doing an excellent job on teaching the course and making us understand how we are all Chicanos one way or another.
History is equal to perception and a perception is what humans think of other people. Ethno-centric is that state of mind in which the ways of one's own groups seem natural and right for all human beings everywhere. In history, ethnocentric leads to distorted images that are exaggerated views. Ethnocentric has a great impact on validated history now days in a way that people make judgments of their actions and thoughts that involves morality.

[1] What do historians create with the history they account? History is a story that never ends. The events of the present in essence have already happened in the past. Historians try to make sense of the present by deconstructing the past. Only through analysis of the past can one understand the present. I remember playing cowboys and Indians as a child. I would always play the part of the cowboys, and consequently the cowboys always won. At the end of my day 's adventure I went to my parents to tell them of my conquest against the Indians. I made certain to include every detail of the battle -- from first charge to last saber stroke. History was made that day in my backyard with the green figurinesoldier on horsebackwhose defeat of the Indian nemesis forces was both courageous and honorable.…

Studying history is interesting to me because you can see the difference from other areas and eras and compare them to present day. I also love to learn about wars, why they started and how they changed the world. I don’t like how we never seem to get the full picture. Somebody’s side of the story is lost, or not told correctly. I would like it much more if we had more information about everything.…

I am very sure that what students learn in school or by reading history books is a whole different thing to what real historians do. Historians travel a lot and try to see all the places where something happened in order to make their own picture of those places and happenings. Of course nobody can see everything or sometimes the places are not anymore like how they were back then. Also, in most cases there are no people alive to interview as a primary source. And at that point the historians start working. They have to find old letters or diaries or something else from that time. Simon writes about that process as the only way to really find out what happened in the…

Growing up I always dreaded history, I never understood why we had to learn about the past. It wasn’t until a couple years ago that I realize that history is what shaped the world into what it is today and where I stand in this world. As a Mexican living in the United States history has really helped me understand why my family and I don’t have the same opportunity as white people. When I read the first 4 chapters to Lies My Teacher Told Me by James Loewen right away I was able to relate to what he was saying. Being a person of color learning history growing up I noticed that the history books only showed one point of view. A lot of the truth was covered up and that’s why now when I read something historical it’s very important for me to read…

I have chosen to study History because I believe it is the most important and relevant subject there is. I have a desire to understand the social and economic processes that have produced modern society. History has fascinated me since early childhood, when I loved to visit museums and historical sites. As an academic subject, my love for History was triggered when I studied the Second World War as a 10 year old. I could not believe the immense impact it had on the world, and the sheer scale of it. It in turn had a huge impact on me, and consolidated my love for the subject.…
