No matter where I go, I will come across those that have different or contrasting beliefs that will either strengthen my own resolve or add to it. My ideology was mostly shaped by my family, where we have very similar tastes, being left wing on a lot of beliefs, making me believe I was a liberal. Though, when I went to school, learning new ideas and new peoples perspective, I had come to realise I am actually a conservative in a few fields. I realised that I don’t have to be 100% liberal, nor every aspect a left wing, instead, I learned I can be a part of conservative ideas without being 100% conservative. My place on the political spectrum is closer to the middle because my ideology is unique very individual. I volunteer, I am more persuaded on the idea of helping one another in times of need, I believe in higher taxations for those that make more, so basic needs are free for everyone, especially those who can’t work for it. Though my view is still very much traditional, socially speaking, mostly by the influence of the religion I practice, making me agree with some conservative viewpoints to an extent, such as the subject of not aborting babies. It makes sense for fights to break out in communities over contrasting viewpoints, such as what schools extra spending should be used, some believe they should be used to pay for more classrooms and rise the teacher wages, and make the school fees less for everyone, while others believe it should be given back to the people who even paid for it. It is the contrasting views that can lead to conflict, especially on a global scale. I have finally been able to understand why people clash, it is the difference of ideologies. Disputes like the clash between democracy and communism which led to the cold war, or the contrasting viewpoint on what should happen in Vietnam war, leading to civil disobedience and protests. In Calgary, I have never participated in a protest, nor have participated in civil disobedience, but when I am met with someone with an ideology that clashes with mine, and insults my own ideology and faith, like instances in school, I will argue my side and protect it with everything I got. That is why I believe elections are done, with parties that meant to represent that variety of ideologies that exist in the nation and be able to show their viewpoint. Without them, there would be more minority rights being violated, and essentially a dysfunctional society. Though, to have it work, people must vote. It is a
