Benigno Simeon “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. is the most prominent Filipino senator of all time, for he showed his courage and nationalism. He was the one who served as an eye-opener for the Filipinos; he revealed the fraudulent conduct by the Marcos Administration. Even if he was condemned by Ferdinand Marcos and knows that his life is in danger, he remained faithful and strong to protect the rights of all the citizens in the Philippines. Ninoy was known for his saying; “The Filipinos are worth dying for”, he died bearing this kind of belief, a man who is strong-willed and willing to sacrifice his own life for the sake of Filipinos. One question awakens “What if Ninoy is still alive at this present time?”
Sometimes I do wonder “What if Ninoy is still alive?” ”What will happen to the Philippines?”. I have the idea of having Ninoy Aquino as our president and everything will be in order, I also imagine that our country will be prosperous. Less crime and corruption can be attained because I believe that he will be a powerful official who can influence all Filipinos like what he did before, I think that the citizens will have high respect for him because he was able to make a change. But on the video that the class had seen Ninoy said that he is not interested anymore in becoming the president at that moment he just wants the Filipinos to see and feel the freedom and exercise their rights. I think if ever Ninoy will be alive at this point he will establish charities that will help all those who are poor and active in participating in organizations that will promote well-being. I also think that he will remain simple and guide his son to effectively rule the country. How I wish that he’s still alive so that he can see the state of our country, I think he will be disappointed in us because we have failed to become a responsible person in this nation, but maybe he will try to do something in solving the issues that we are experiencing because he is a man who can’t stand being quiet and just leaving the problems unsolved.
Ninoy Aquino is a great role model for all of the Filipinos. He contributed a lot in the development of our country so alive or not, Ninoy Aquino will be remembered by his remarkable deeds. He is a man who died with no regrets because he believed that we are worth dying for. No words can fully express how much gratitude we should regard for him.

As it was more than a hundred years ago, during the American occupation, Philippine politics is still dominated by a handful of elite families. Due to weakness of our state institutions, political elites were able to take advantage and use their power to serve their own interests. The four post-Martial Law presidencies have all been haunted and the same time played important roles in the promulgation of elite politics that didn’t help improve the political maturity of the Philippines. This is most glaring in the past administration of former President Gloria Arroyo, wherein she willingly cooperates with the political elites in an effort to preserve her presidency. Families like the Singsons, Duranos and the controversial Ampatuans were a familiar sight during the leadership of Arroyo. The provincial base of powers of these elites ensured that Arroyo’s presidency would be assured and sustained despite her unpopularity and the overwhelming call for her resignation. Even our current president, Noynoy Aquino, is a glaring representation of how elites have ruled over our country. Benigno Aquino III comes from a long line of elite families from both his maternal and paternal side. Both of parents where part of a political elite family that have been ruling over our country since the American period. His father Benigno Aquino Jr. was a former Senator whose assassination became one of the reasons for the People Power Revolution. His paternal grandfather was also a Senator during the American period and was one of the politicians that collaborated with the Japanese government during their invasion. Her mother on the other hand was the late former president Corazon Cojuangco Aquino and was part of the prominent and one of the most powerful political families in the Philippines, the Cojuangco clan that up until now still rules much of the province of Tarlac.…

Sec. Jesse Robredo, as one of the finest servants of the Philippines, his death was a big impact to the whole nation. It was like a sudden and unexpected death that nobody ever knew it would happen. As their Piper Seneca plane crashed off the shore of the Masbate Island, and so his family’s hearts were in pain. At first, his family was still hoping that the news has just mistaken, but after the intense search for Jesse’s body, he was found dead and his remains were brought by P-Noy to Naga City were his family and fellow citizen is waiting. Truly he was so loved by his people whom he served for he was adored by many of them especially his people in Naga were he serves as a Mayor for several terms. He was more than those superheroes such as Batman and Superman because he was a TRUE HERO-a hero who is not measured by the size of his strength, but by the size of his heart. His sudden death can be a big lost to the country for he was one of our great leaders. We are all mourning for it, but on the positive side, his death could have been a good thing if we will just let his legacy touch are hearts and made ourselves more productive in a way that we would start in taking steps to a brighter future just like his Tsinelas Leadership, “No frills, no kaartehan, but with a clear vision.”- Sec. Change could not be done overnight either six years is not enough but even if the president is strangled by these truths he is still persistent to continue what he started; whoever people he might meet head-on in the process, whatever cost may it take. This was the one my contemplation of the opening statement of President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III during his fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) held last July 22, 2013 in Batasan Pambansa Complex. His very promising statements captures the heart of the masses for it gave confidence for the many that the president himself is ready to combat corrupt public administrators and it pledged hope for the citizens of the country, an undying hope for a enhanced change and a better country. The fourth years of his administration has started and so let’s scrutinize what news he brings about the state of the country.…

After the proclamation and formal assumption into office, along with fancy celebrations and parties, the new government of Noynoy Aquino is now starting to confront the challenges and problems of the country. Its cabinet is now almost complete and its policies and programs, though slowly, are taking shape out of the motherhood statements and broad campaign slogans. With the winning of Aquino, surveys showed that there is an increased optimism for a better life in the coming months among Filipinos from all classes. The promise of good governance have impacted the people and an atmosphere of relief from nine (9) years of mismanagement, illegitimacy and very corrupt governance is certainly in the air. This situation compelled various sectors, especially the Left, to discuss and debate on how we should deal with this new government.…

This August we celebrate the History Month as provided by Proclamation No. 339 signed by President Benigno “Ninoy” S. Aquino III on February 2013. The month of August marks a significant period in the history of our country. It reminds us about the beginning of the quest of the Filipinos to liberate our country from the tyranny of the Spanish regime. After the discovery of the Katipunan on August 19, 1896, Bonifacio called for a general assembly and on August 23, 1896 (an account of Pio Valenzuela on 1948) the Cry of Pugadlawin (also referred as “Cry of Balintawak”) happened where the Katipuneros tore their cedulas up which symbolizes their determination to to take arms and fight to the last. And the rest is history as they say. Another important incident happened in the month of August was the assassination of Sen. Benigno “Ninoy” S. Aquino Jr., the archrival of the Asia’s strong man Pres. Ferdinand E. Marcos. His assassination led to the awakening of the Filipino people from the abuses of the the dictatorship of Pres. Marcos. Some political analysts explained that Ninoy’s funeral which was attended by millions of Filipinos manifested the first “people power” against the late dictator. These stories became important turning points in our historical accounts.…

This SONA is the president’s fifth, the second to the last, and filipinos are expecting him to discuss more about what is happening now – impeachment complaints because of DAP, territorial disputes, pork barrel scam, energy problems and more. It is all very superficial. Despite the improvements, there are matters deep in the crevices of the system greatly affecting the country that have been left unmentioned. There are many comparisons between his administration and the old, and most of all, there is lot of spite expressed from his attackers. We appreciate the positivity and the improvements but sheer avoidance of more pressing matters is not a development in any form.…

It has been 25 years, but Ninoy’s dreams for the Filipino people live on. Do not forget. Despite events that seem to have wiped out the hopes born out of Ninoy’s death, his sacrifice was not in vain. Like what I’ve said earlier, Ninoy said that “the Filipino is worth dying for.” He didn’t have to return, because he knew what it could cost him. But he did, because he had great hopes and believed that we can achieve great good. We are the ones he died for. Our freedom is what he gained for us, though he did not taste it himself.…

Now, as a youth; the Filipino nation had not been able to reproduce a son who could hold a candle to the standard of heroism, intellectuality and morality which he had raised. There had been a plethora of great personages, warriors, intellectuals and martyrs all, who had cropped up before, during, and after Rizal. Yet for all their luminescence, these heroes have always scrambled for the scraps of attention which trickle out of Rizal's brimming image in the eyes of his people. With regards to their individual fame and prestige, men such as Bonifacio, Mabini, and del Pilar must always play second fiddle to the man dubbed by his contemporaries as “The Great Malayan.”…
