What Is Apollo A Greek God
The God I chose is Apollo because he is a big part of Greek mythology and his storylines are cool. Also he is just like most people today. I will also show you how these epics are cool and entertaining. “Apollo is the son of Zeus and Leto. He is also the twin brother of Artemis and they were both born on Delos. Leto was fleeing from Zeus and could not have children on land.”(www.greekmythology.com/Olympians/Apollo/Apollo.html)Leto went to Delos which wasn't a real island at the time and she had Artemis and Apollo. When Apollo was born he had golden hair and was very athletic. When he was young he was very handsome. “Apollo became a god of many things. Since he was the god of music most people picture him playing a golden lyre. He …show more content…
Apollo could heal and he could also bring disease/ plagues too. Apollo had a son named Asclepius that also could heal too. Soon he became too powerful and could raise the dead. The gods could not allow that so Zeus killed him with a lighting bolt. “Apollo also helped in the Trojan War. He would heal the Greek soldiers and bring diseases and plagues to the Trojan soldiers. Apollo also helped Paris kill Achilles.”(Apollo) Apollo is so brave if you think about it he killed a big Python, he kill a cyclops, and helped kill Achilles. Apollo is such a big part of Greek mythology because he did all this. I wonder what Greek mythology would be like if Apollo weren't in it it would be completely …show more content…
Eros knew that Daphne would not reject him so he shot her with a lead/hate arrow. She then had a unregarded hatred for Apollo and she ran away.”(Roman Gods & Goddesses) Daphne turned into a laurel tree to be away from Apollo and he was heartbroken. “Another example is Cassandra. She pretended to like Apollo just so she could learn the art of prophecy. Hestia chose to remain a virgin and not marry Apollo”.(White, William. Roman Gods & Goddesses).Apollo has been rejected so many times and just needs some true love. Fly tie was of the only girls that liked Apollo and he rejected her. Apollo's sons also had really bad relationships just like their father. As they say the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. To conclude this topic, Apollo is like most people today and needs some love in his

The Gods and Goddesses of Greek mythology have gained their fame based on their own roles within Greek culture, and have been attributed to becoming the God or Goddess of a specific concepts, objects, or personal talents. Basing his novel mainly on this idea, Riordan forms a world within the novel, where the behaviors of characters refers to the titles or powers of certain Gods or Goddess. Specifically the Goddesses of Athena and Aphrodite, Riordan steadily allows the put down of Aphrodite and raises Athena on a pedestal. Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love and Beauty, is seen to represent the old fashioned mindset of women as being only figures of physical beauty and having little to no role in society. Shown by Percy’s calm tone and attitude in…

One of the most famous heroes during the Trojan War, Achilles, had divine parents who were Thetis and Peleus, the king of the Myrmidons. Although he was by no means a god, he had godly features such as his great strength and nearly impenetrable body which propelled him to be a mighty hero during the war in the eyes of the Greek; essentially linking the bridge between god and man. The heroes and events in the Trojan War represented an age when men were greater and life had a greater purpose. Heroes like Achilles were examples to aspire to, and by doing great deeds a certain immortality could be reached, either absolutely or through remembrance in myth and…

When I first learned about the Greek god Apollo in my Classical Mythology class, he reminded me of Oliver Queen. Oliver Queen is a character from one of my favorite television show called “Smallville”. He inherited a big industrial empire from his parents when they passed away. He was a playboy who did not care to give back to the society and only did what pleases him. One day, when Oliver was out on his boat, he was pushed overboard into the sea by an employee. After being marooned on an island, he learned to hunt and improved his survival skills. He later found a small settlement on the island and saw that some of the islanders were cruelly disposed of in a nearby well. It shocked him and he became focused on avenging their deaths. He resorted to making his own weapons and pursued the escaping men in the boats, who turned out to be drug dealers. His stamina and skills helped him overcome them, and was later able to turn them over to the police. Oliver had his first taste of crime fighting then. He vowed to change the world for the better with the resources he had. He became a vigilante under the name of “Green Arrow”. ("Comic Vine") I think that Oliver Queen and Apollo seems so alike yet different at the same time. I believe that they will make a great comparison to each other.…

The myth of Apollo and Daphne is about a god who falls in love with a water nymph. It all had started when Apollo decided to make fun of Cupid about how he's just a child, and his weapons are nothing in comparison to those of Apollo's. Cupid got angry and then shot Apollo with the arrow of love, and Daphne with the arrow of disgust. Daphne was a water nymph who wanted to be like Artemis, and remain a virgin. While Apollo chased Daphne proclaiming his undying love for her, Daphne began to get desperate and called on the help of her father. Her father heard her pleas of help, and transformed her into a tree. This broke Apollo's heart, so his official plant became the Daphne tree. Today, in modern society, the myth of Apollo and Daphne is referenced, because it has many different interpretations.…
