Starfish are very unique creatures. Starfish are sometimes called sea stars. They are classified as invertebrate Echinoderm. Starfish are commonly found in rocky tide pools and are sometimes found washed up onto shore of all the world oceans. They live in tropical waters and on the seafloors of colder climate. Starfish does not have blood. They have a water vascular system where the starfish pumps sea water through it sieve plate or madreporite into its tube to extend them.…
Behavior of Brine Shrimp in Habitat Selection Introduction: This experiment was developed primarily to find the optimal or preferred living conditions of adult brine shrimp. In this lab 3 variables were tested in different degrees to determine which the shrimp prefer. The different variables were light, ph, and temperature. From outside resources I have found that brine shrimp can survive in temperatures ranging from 4° Celsius to 40° Celsius with an optimal temperature of 20°-25°. So I hope to reinforce this research by testing its validity in the lab. From another outside source brine shrimp display positive photo taxis, which means that they are attracted to light. And finally from my last outside source I have found information that suggests brine shrimp prefer a ph of 7-9 and will die if placed in a solution of salinity higher than 10 and less that 5 for longer periods of time. This lab is important because it is a fairly easy experiment to test and find behavioral traits of a simple organism. Even though from research I was able to find the data that is to be tested in this lab it is important to actually prove the results as they may be incorrect for this population of brine shrimp. So for this lab I am trying to find out what environment brine shrimp prefer to live in and what they don't prefer to live in, and possible what they are unable to live in. I expect that the results of this lab will be fairly similar to the information stated above, but not totally the same. I believe that like most organisms these brine shrimp will prefer to live in the middle of environmental extremes.…
The peacock mantis shrimp lives in the crevices of coral and rocks on the ocean floor. They are sometimes found in 3-40 m deep water but more often found in depths of 10-30 m. They live in water with a temperature around 22-28°C. They are commonly found in u-shaped burrows. Their preferred habitats include marine or tropical saltwater within biomes of benthic reef.…

Blackfish is a documentary that tells the story and event Tilikum. After the release of the movie there has been big argument between the maker of Blackfish and Sea World about what really happen during the events the event where Tilikum took the life of some trainers. Blackfish argues that sea World captivity of the orcas can lead them to have physical, metal health problems and that the trainer are not safe in wild working with the killer whales.…

Dr. Basslers observed a symbiosis relationship between Vibrio Fischeri and the Bobtail squid. Viberio Fisheri is bioluminescent bacteria which means it produces light. The Bobtail squid is a nocturnal animal which sleeps in the sand in shallow water in Hawaii. At night time where plentiful starlight is…
a. The story begins with the narrator being sentenced to death and will be killed very painfully to make him suffer. He is in a Spanish Inquisition and will be punished by a pit. The narrator is wise enough to know that he must figure out a way to get out. The narrator begins measuring the size of the area he is in by first, walking around counting his footsteps until he reaches his destination, which was the cloth stuck to the wall that he used as a starting point, of the dungeon and then by measuring the diameter and figures out that there is a pit. He falls asleep and wakes up strapped to something and a pendulum that was holding a razor sharp blade that is slowly descending and descending toward him. He quickly and barely escapes by rubbing his bonds to a spicy food to make the rats eat the bonds off. The walls begin closing in on him forcing him to have no choice but to fall to his death into the pit. But before he can make his decision, a French Army attacks the place and he is saved in time.…
Throughout the film Blackfish the filmmaker’s objective was to appeal to the audience’s senses and side with the killer whales. Incorporating ethos, logos, and pathos in the film through interviews and statistics helped spread this film and leave an impact on everybody who watched it. The film took an interesting approach to displaying how SeaWorld was trying to hide from the audience and the visitors to the parks around the world.…
In thinking of film's that are able to exemplify many film elements that are put together in an interesting and organized manner the movie Rumble Fish comes to mind. The director Francis Ford Coppola demonstrates how metaphors are able to help decipher a deeper meaning of the film. Rumble Fish is a film that is about growing up and seeing new things that have never been seen before. The two main characters who are brothers Rusty James and the Motorcycle Boy, experience internal conflicts. Rusty James the younger of the two looks up to his brother and wants to be like him. However the elder has grown out of his previous demeanor of always fighting and he doesn't want his brother to follow in his steps. Throughout the film he ask Rusty James why he is following him. The Motorcycle Boy knows that his brother is somewhat trapped in the city and someone needs to get him out or set him free. He looks to the fish in the pet store to explain this and it is how he relates to his brothers problems. This is the scene that will be examined of when Rusty James is in the pet store with his brother and they are looking at the fish. It has been explained how much everyone in town looks up to the Motorcycle Boy, and on numerous occasions Rusty James said he was going to look like him when he was older. Even though the Motorcycle Boy never shows much affection, he wants something better for his brother, and even though he never tells his brother to leave until the end when he knows he is going to die, he tries to let him know through the fish. So until this point in the movie the viewer never really knows how the Motorcycle Boy feels about his brother.…
There has been a lot of controversy surrounding Seaworld’s treatment of captive orcas recently. A documentary called Blackfish was released in 2013 that highlighted the abuse of killer whales at Seaworld. It also showed how the aggression of orcas in captivity has resulted in the death of trainers. Though Seaworld has denied inadequate treatment of their orcas, they have clearly been in distress. Orcas, and animals in general, should not be kept in captivity because of the emotional and mental abuse they suffer and the harm they cause to themselves and other orcas.…
As a storm that God created blew wind into the ocean, one-half ended up on shore, and the other half ended up in a different part of the ocean. As time went by, a couple of Barbellus Primordius on land became Barbellus Opticus, and another couple in the ocean became Barbellus Dorsalis. Some simply did not survive because they were not ‘fit’ enough- especially if they were forced out of their habitat if they had recessive traits (for example).…
