Protagonists keep the plot of a story going, they are the ones we cling to and hope to see win in the end or die trying. In the outstanding play Julius Caesar, by William Shakespeare, many characters play a very important role while many others are there simply to die. But the question still remains. Who exactly is the main character? Julius Caesar or noble Brutus? Both show the great acts of a protagonist, along with being the main eye throughout the story which would prove them to be the best choice for the role. They both flow through the story like hot butter, but not all butter lands on toast.…

Having an unlimited number of terms is very excessive. People would become tired of the same president for years and years. This allows prohibits those who don’t support the president to have the same person, with the same ideas run the country for years on end. Congress would be tired of working with the same president so little would get accomplished. The 22nd amendment was put in place after Franklin Delano Roosevelt was president for four terms. Since he ended up dying during his four term congress created the amendment limiting a president to only two terms. By adding this amendment to the constitution, it prevents the president from causing corruption and becoming senile as they become older. I also don’t agree with idea of having a president only be able to serve one term that last six years because that would be a very lengthy amount of time for only one term. Holding an election every six years seems like too long a time to get the opinions of new generations. Elections measure the opinion of the public, so holding election every six years wouldn’t be an accurate representation of our country as a whole. Having a term be four years allows the people to vote for other candidates if they don’t support the current president or their beliefs have changed. It also allows us to keep the same president for another 4 years if they are a good leader for the…

Many people saw Brutus as a great man, who did what was right for all. His first love was to Rome. During his speech at Caesar's funeral, he said “Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more” (3.2.21-22). This shows how he was willing to do everything he could for Rome, even if it means taking his own life which he also states in his speech. He explains why Caesar was assassinated; because he was too ambitious. Brutus tells the horrified onlookers that "Ambition's debt is paid", indicating…

Although, Brutus was a man that was more associated with honor than he was with anything else, He was still a humane person who knew the difference in good and bad or the right and wrong. However, recently he had been through a lot of internal conflicts and he couldn’t tell the difference between those four things anymore. He had probably wanted to seek revenge and anything that was presented to him, he had…

Finally, he brings together both parts of his argument by stating “I slew my best lover for the good of Rome, I have the same dagger for myself, when it shall please my country to need my death.” Brutus declares that he values Rome even over his life, further supporting that he killed Caesar to protect Rome and increasing the public’s belief in his dedication to that cause. His dramatic proclamation that he would also kill himself adds credibility to his statements, showing him to be selfless, honourable, and patriotic.…

Brutus is a patriotic middle aged man, who truly cares about the well being of his fellow people. “I do fear, the people, Choose Caesar for their king,” says Brutus. (Act 1 scene 2, 80) Despite Brutus’ friendship with Caesar, he much rather prefers Rome to remain a republic. He puts the masses before his own friendship. Brutus in return, is seen as trustworthy and reliable by the people. Indeed, Brutus is a noble man. Brutus says, “For let the gods so speed me as I love, the name of honor more than I fear death.” (act 1 scene 2, 90) He values honesty, fairness and balance. He is willing to lay his own life for what he believes. He is passionate and will do as much as what is needed so that what he believes is right will shine through. Brutus is easily swayed by Cassius in Act 1 scene 2. “Brutus and Caesar—what should be in that “Caesar”?” says the sly Cassius. (Act 2 scene 2, 140) After Cassius’ speech, Brutus considers the proposition of plotting against Caesar and does not shun the idea at all. Brutus is so willing to believe in his worthiness and Cassius’ call for action. He fails to truly listen to the Romans because he is too engrossed in doing what he believes is best for them.…

“Well Brutus you are noble, but I can tell that honorable qualities can be given in a new direction.” – Cassius. This quote spoken by Cassius shows his need to get Brutus to be part of the conspirators. This quote also reveals that many people adore Brutus and that he is a honorable man. The play “Julius Caesar” was written by William Shakespeare and takes place during the time of Caesar’s reign in Rome. Various characters, like the conspirators, loath how ambitious Caesar was so they decided to stop his control of Rome. Being caught in middle, Brutus’s sense of patriotism and his integrity coerced him to two vital decisions, the death of Caesar and his own death.…
