What is College For?
Starting college is a huge step in a person’s life. When you walk onto that university or college campus as a student for the first time, you’re starting a brand new chapter in your life. College can be served as a purpose for many things. Eighty six percent of college graduates say that for them personally, college was a good investment for them.

College really matures everyone. Sure, there are super crazy parties and extreme activities, but students become much more mature. Of course there are always people who make not-so-smart decisions, but there isn’t really bullying like there was in high school and elementary school. People don’t seem to judge other people based on where they come from, their interests, hobbies, etc. When most people around you are more mature, then everyone stops trying to impress everyone. In high school, most people wasted their time trying to impress people who would never actually like them for who they are. It is said that in college, you find yourself as an individual. You learn so much about yourself when away from home. By a college student’s senior year, they are a different person than when they walked onto the campus as a freshman. College helped them grow and develop as more responsible and mature adults.

The most important part of attending college is figuring out what career you want to pursue. Most college students do not have a set lifestyle and definite career choice already. Many people think college is just high school, part two. However, colleges explore subjects in much greater depth than high school. Organization, responsibility, working hard, deadlines, and so much more can build a very strong worth ethic for dedicated students. College is not only taking your education the the next level, but helping you grow intellectually and introducing a whole new world of ideas to your mind. College gives you so many choices to make for your life path. It gives you the freedom to explore different paths that you may come across in your life. The colleges let you make these choices in an academically structured, organized manner. When a student finds a profession that they are definitely interested in pursuing as their career, college serves the purpose of helping that student understand the principles of this profession. When these students acquire the knowledge and skills needed to pursue their choice profession, it shows college is truly rewarding to them by helping them get a job they love and are good at. Colleges now also prepare students for careers that will grow to be very important in the next 15-20 years. College helps students to find out what they enjoy, what they are good at doing, and what they will be happy doing for the rest of their lives.

College is served as a purpose for many great things. Finding out who you are as a person, and learning more and more about yourself when away from home is a huge part of the college experience. Responsibility and maturity rise, and you stop trying to impress people who don’t care about you. And, the most important, finding out what career you want to pursue. Colleges teach so much about whatever you want to be in life. What you learn in college helps you get a job, keep a job, and be successful.
