what is discrimination
What is Discrimination?
Discrimination is unfair or unequal treatment of an individual based on characteristics such as age, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, and plenty other of reasons. Discrimination can occur in schools, health care services, buses/trains, housing, employment, and when voting. This is a big issue and has had a major impact on the past and present. Discrimination has been around for thousands of years and is still going on today. Discrimination has been going on since the Martin Luther King era and that’s what he tried to stop. Movements and protests have been formed to stop discrimination, but unfortunately it is still going on in today’s society. Even though it hasn’t completely stopped, discrimination has been declining in many civil cases but it still exists. Not all forms of discrimination is illegal also. For example, two people are competing to get the last apartment available in a certain section and person 1 has 8 cats and person 2 has 0 pets. The landlord would more than likely accept person 2 because it’s less hassle with the pet issue. In a way that discrimination is illegal is when two people go in for a job interview. Person 1 is an African American female with a college degree and person 2 is a Caucasian female dropout, and the employer picks the Caucasian female just because she’s not black. This form of racial job discrimination is very wrong and needs to stop because the best person should be able to get the job if there resume is good enough.
Discrimination is wrong and should’ve never started in the first place. Everybody bleeds the same blood so nobody shouldn’t be judged just because of their skin color, or the religion that they choose. We are all humans and all should be treated the same and get the same respect that every individual gets no matter what.

Discrimination is unfair or prejudice actions of people toward others that are categorized differently based on a persons age, sex, disabilities, religion, and race. “Discrimination does not necessarily mean absolute deprivation (the minimum level of subsistence below which families or individuals should not be expected to exist),” (Jones, 2007). There are several forms of discrimination. The work place will discriminate against a person because of their sexuality and not hire him/her because they are gay or lesbian. This is a form of direct discrimimation. “In the United States, employment laws are very strict regarding discrimination and the laws serve to protect individuals from being discriminated in the workplace. The laws also serve to guide employers on acceptable conduct for its employees with regards to discrimination,” (Admin, 2011). If…

Discrimination is still among our world today, and stays a constant issue. Many people would argue this accusation, and try to believe that the world today is better than it was years ago, but the fact is that it is still the same. Discrimination is not just among races or ethnic groups, it is among different genders, religions, and marriage partners. Today people argue about discrimination all of the time. Why is it still among us? What can be done? Why don’t we just let it be? But, in fact, none of these questions are ever solved and might never be answered because of the contrasting beliefs of society. Society has put discrimination into stereotyping and many other different forms, but the point is that discrimination is here to stay and…
